There are still some good face price tickets on Ticket Master.

I wonder if flights will get any cheaper. Over $500 for the cheapest on top of tickets and hotel is a ton.

Sun Country did add extra flights to Orlando back in 2014. You will get a good price if you jump on those fast. Keep an eye out for announcements.

Hopefully the Athletics Dept will announce their Bowl travel bundles tonight. I just purchased everything a la cart...

The school allotted seats at the game is in the endzones, not great seats at all. SeatGeek, StubHub, and VividSeats has all the season ticket holder tickets in the midfield.

Fly to Orlando and drive the hour and a half to Tampa.

I’ve gotten tickets for as cheap as 106 round trip to Orlando, non stop Delta flights.

I should say Sun Country may add some extra flights to Tampa as a result of the Bowl. Watch for those.

Dec 31-Jan 3 to Orlando 285 non stop round trip.

my fam is headed to Tampa, but the gopher package has fans staying at the Marriott but the Outback website says the Hyatt is the Big Ten Team HQ? Anyone know. They stayed at the team hotel for the Holiday Bowl and it was fun.....would like to do again! Anyone know who knows
Do they both allow pets?

Yahoo! Living in Ft Myers so definitely making that drive to Tampa!!

Those are $400+ for the bowl game. Too short of notice. But I also refuse to fly spirit and the like.

I use a site called thrifty traveler and pay the premium service to be notified of great deals. I also refuse to fly spirit. Last year I flew to Orlando for 106 round trip through delta. Granted there are specific times when these rates are available but if you do enough digging you can always find a a fair to good deal.

Golf course recommendations?
Streamsong is about an hour away from Tampa. It has three courses I believe and is simply fantastic. I would recommend playing two rounds and spend a night at the resort. It is truly a special golf experience.

We flew to Orlando/Ft. Myers this fall for under $200 on Delta (main cabin) but we booked 6 months in advance. I know it can be done, but rarely on this short of notice. If you want to fly back on the evening of the 1st or come back on the 2nd I think you're looking at closer to $400 plus. Like your original post said, maybe if you have a few days on each end of the trip to give you flexibility you could find a slightly better deal. Unfortunately my job doesn't have that flexibility.

FWIW, having gone to the Outback several times, as well as snowbirding in Dunedin, FL, here are some suggestions:

1) Stay in St. Pete Beach, Treasure Island, or one of the other gulf beaches. You're leaving the midwest, why not be on a beach? I prefer VRBOs to hotels, but that's just me. I'm old and aren't out on the town every night anymore.

2) Do go the parade in Ybor City; it is fun.

3) The Columbia is a great restaurant in Ybor City. There are also a couple of other locations in the area, but I like the historic aspect of the Ybor City site.

4) For high-end seafood, Oystercatchers is great. If you are in the Tarpon Springs area, Rusty Bellies is very good and at reasonable prices. It's a Greek community, so you can find some good Greek food.

Have fun!

The U of M ticket office has two levels of tickets — Stadium Club and Main Stand. Raymond James Stadium also has tickets for sale. Any thoughts on the best place to purchase tickets for the game? I will likely take my son. Would be our first bowl game. So just need two tickets and would prefer to sit with other Gopher fans.

For hockey fans, the Lightning have a home game on Dec. 29. If I remember right, the hockey arena is super close to Raymond James Stadium.

Check your email they sent them out.
