Not after watching 4 seasons of Laquon Treadwell dropping passes for the Vikings.

He finally might have cost the team a win in a big game with his dropsies. He’ll be lucky to be a 5th rounder at this point.

Maybe I’ll get roasted for this. I don’t care.

What makes you think he was ever going to be a high rounder? He's still going to be drafted. There are 7 rounds.

He'll catch more than he drops, but there never seems to be a "good" time for that drop.
It's one out of 20 maybe?

Coaches will have to decide if they are good with that. He also catches balls many wouldn't. Part of the reason we have 9 wins this season.

Yeah I'm not going to blame Johnson for this game. That was indeed a bad drop. But he kept us in the game with three or four critical catches at other points.

There are a bushel of really good receivers in this draft. TJ makes a lot of big time plays but he drops far too many easy ones. Many of them seem crucial too.

He was slotted 3rd to 5th round before today in a couple evaluations I recently saw.

It was probably a TD to tie the game (assuming our terrible kicker makes the PAT). If this was a rare occurrence, I probably wouldn’t be as harsh.

You can’t only look at the plays he doesn’t make, look at some of those great catches he’s had. I’d draft him and work him to get his hands better.

True. That drop was disastrous, but he had a hell of a game that did keep it close. Cannot blame everything on him. But on the other side, his drops are a consistent issue.

How'd that work for Troy Williamson and Treadwell?

Yep. That one specific dropped pass will impact his draft status.

TJ was never going to be drafted in the first round. Comparing him to busts like Williamson and Treadwell is stupid.

He will absolutely get drafted. The drops may hurt how high he goes.

would you draft Diggs if you could do it all over again? Because he has plenty of concentration drops. Tyler’s a tremendous receiver and made play after play IN THIS GAME to keep drives alive. Remember the famous last minute drive against GA Southern? Who did we go to when the game was on the line? For the time being, Ty is the greatest WR in Gophers history and beyond that a model student athlete for the University. For years, we would have killed for a receiver like him and now that he made a key drop, we want to say he’s undraftable? That’s garbage.

Agree this thread brings nothing

If you deleted every thread that brings nothing, Gopherhole would not exist. Yet, here we are.

He just made PFF’s top 32 prospects on their big board.

9 catches, 170 yards, and a TD. And all you can think about his what his one drop cost us?

TJ is really good! He makes tons of highlight plays. Everybody likes him. Nobody said he is undraftable but I’m sure there are some teams who would not draft him earlier than the 5th. And the thread starter said he wouldn’t draft him. Doesn’t mean several others wouldn’t. He does drop too many catchable balls to be drafted before the third round according to the blogs. That’s all.

Obviously you would draft him. Also, should be obvious...everybody is a little salty...we just lost a game we could have won.

That’s what I’m thinking about. Not you?

A missed extra point and a missed FG cost us 4 points.

PJ losing his cool and having to prove that he can run out on the field faster than the trainer cost us a first and goal.

Bateman dropped a pass and Wiley bobbled two kickoffs.

Durr dropped an interception.

The OL gave up what, six sacks? Morgan might have a concussion.

TJ had nine catches for 170 yards and a TD. He isn't the reason we lost. He's a big part of the reason why we were in it at the end.

Stats don’t matter if we lose the game. We outgained Iowa by a lot. Our YPP differential was almost a yard more. Key plays like TJ’s drop are the reason we lost the game. Again, if this was a rare occurrence, it would be easier to overlook. That drop, with millions of people watching, will lower his draft stock, because that’s been the knock on him all along. Gopher fans are either too critical or too forgiving. There’s very little middle ground.

PJ's penalty didn't cost the Gophs a first and goal. Iowa had the ball back regardless. It gave Iowa 10 yards.

I can’t believe all the people bagging on Tyler Johnson on here. No way this team is anywhere near where it is without him and all his catches. It’s absolutely ridiculous. One play does not lose a game (unless you drop the last pass of the game in the end zone to win it) and even then there are over a hundred other plays every game. I swear some of you are retarded.

People on here are getting way too spoiled, y'all are idiots of your upset with him, he is gonna go down as one of the best WRs in this programs history. He is a local kid who decided to stay home which is something so many on here complain about but as soon as he has one drop he sucks? Get out of here with that nonsense

Frankly, I don't think you're either. I think this is an atrocious take. Morgan and TJ were the reason we were in this game tonight. He dropped a big pass, it stinks. Bateman also dropped a really big pass.

His stats helped us keep the game close tonight. TJ is a leader one a 9-1 Gopher team. I'm thinking his stats were kind of a part of that.

All of that said, if Treadwell or Williamson dominated the receiving record books for the Vikings, but had a bad drop in a big game, would you still like them? These players are human. You need to take the good with the bad. With TJ there is an immense amount of good. With Treadwell and Williamson, there wasn't any good.
