That the real reason Seantrel hasn't signed yet is because of academic issues. I don't have a link or anything to confirm this, just something I heard.

I find that hard to believe only because USC is not know for keeping highly recruited fb players out due to academics. With them, if there is a will there is a way.

Well it has been stated that he has yet to qualify. I think he needs a better ACT score. But I believe that he is waiting to hear more about possible sanctions. He will be afforded the time by most schools.

from notre dame people i talked to they said he would have still needed to increase his act score by 2 points to qualify there. dont know if that is an increse he needs just to qualify there or just to qualify for any of the schools in general.

As it stands right now, no matter where he goes he needs to improve his ACT score by two points. It remains to be seen if he will or not. By not signing his LOI, he leaves open the option to attend prep school if he fails to qualify, forcing him away from D1 football for just one year if he can get the grades to qualify in 2011. If he signs the LOI but doesn't qualify, he has to go JuCo and wouldn't be back in D1 football until 2012 at the earliest.

everyone needs to get over SH, We dint get him. We got Jimmy and Edwards we should all be happy we kept these 2 guys.

I guess it would be pretty funny if you're a dick who finds enjoyment in the misfortune of others.

A little touchy? I didn't expect the Spanish Inqusition? You know he could of meant "funny" as in ironic as opposed to "funny" as in ha ha.

I just honestly hope the kid doesn't raise his score by 8-12 points. All Gopher fans know how that turns out don't we?

Is that okay Prof?

Not touchy at all. He asked if it would be funny and I answered him. By definition, that's schadenfreude.

If he meant ironic, I would question exactly how.

Disgusting post. The misfortune of others is not qualified by a guy who knows he's a great player, rests on his laurels, and screws around flying around the country courting football programs when he could be sitting in his room studying. If he fails I will laugh my ass off to The Bank - Against a Seantrel Henderson-less USC this fall.

The misfortune of others is found in the families of the dead in Haiti or the mishandling of returning American veterans from Vietnam, many of whom are now homeless and suffering from mental illness.

Haha.....I get it. Seantrel didn't commit here so now he's lazy and we should wish ill upon him. It's not that you're bitter and pathetic, it's just that you really care about studying.

Also, feeling sympathy for the misfortune of one person does not disqualify you from feeling it for others, and it certainly doesn't mean you must take joy in their loss. I can only assume that's what you meant by "not qualified by."

So many people talked about the support and love Seantrel would get here, but it's quickly being exposed that it was a purely selfish concern. Of course you'll care about him if he's doing something for you. Otherwise? *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!# him, apparently.

Quite simply, I was unimpressed by your smarmy, overbearing, asshole-ish attitude toward a well liked poster on this board. Whether or not I am bitter or pathetic does not matter. If I qualify as bitter and pathetic, you at least qualify as pathetic for arguing with someone on an internet message board about a high schooler who will have no impact on your life.

Your initial defense of Seantrel Henderson was lacking tact and a worldy perspective, especially considering the feelings of many of the posters on a Minnesota Golden Gophers message board. The kid goes to CDH, has a multitude of educational resources that will contribute to his academic success, and can only score a 17 on his ACT? That's not misfortune. I don't think anyone who has seen how he's communicated with others or gone about the recruiting process would say he lacks intelligence, either.

Of course you'll care about him if he's doing something for you. Otherwise? *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!# him, apparently.

Absolutely. That is my definition of fandom. Why would I care about a no one who fails at a simple high school exam? Failure happens every day to different people in much more miserable ways. There are far more important people in our world who deserve our shallow and put-on pity than a high school football player who has the world at his hands. He needed to put in such little work to just get by, and he couldn't even do that.

i also heard this afternoon from someone in the know that he is walking a fine line right now with his current grades in high school and he soon may find himself not playing hoops.

i hope he can get his priorities straight. doesnt matter if it is a football player here or another school or just some average joe, i hope everyone finds a way to work hard and be successful in school.

Warning: Bump on the GH

Just go away, you pompous, pseudo-analytical bump.

Not that many. :)

"a certain factual truth is highlighted by some person's complete ignorance of it, or belief in the opposite of it"

The irony would be that after all the effort that schools made to get him to enroll he couldn't get in anyway. I hope the kid gets into school and gets an education at USC, a great school. I can't believe we are spending all the time on it but then again, I can't believe you didn't really see the irony in the statement either.

Have a good night.

I can only assume that Nadine now also lacks a "worldly perspective" for saying essentially the same thing.

Those of you trashing him didn't get what you wanted; now you're acting like children. You can say that in a much more polite way as she did (tact, if you will) but the results are still the same. If you want to talk *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!# about a kid because he didn't want to play on the team you like and give lectures on tact, go right ahead. Had he been "just a high school player" who wanted to play on your team, you likely would have continued to talk about what a mature and thoughtful person he was. Being a fan doesn't mean you have to be a baseless hypocrite.

I would only consider it ironic if said efforts are what keep him from qualifying. There's an assumption here that is the case, which I don't think anyone can say one way or the other. He could just simply be bad at aptitude tests, school, etc., and the time spent on the recruiting trail made no difference at all. I get your point though.

Sorry, that's not misfortune. His grades and or test scores are something that he is responsible for himself.
While misfortune often carries a connotation of bad luck, it need not have to. It can also simply mean a distressing or unhappy situation. If replacing misfortune with adversity provides more clarity, however, feel free.

Why don't you figure it out? You represent yourself as educated.

Wow was that a mighty tortuous way of avoiding the obvious.

Why doesn't anyone one this bloody board ever just say "yeah, I was wrong"; you know, besides me?

+1

If he and his dad did not make such a spectacle of themselves and the recruiting process and just kept low key and went through the recruiting process no one would care if he did not qualify and had to go JUCO. Lots of kids have to go JUCO and there is nothing wrong with that. But if you make a show of yourself like they did, you better darn well qualify or you deserve to be laughed at. I will find it very funny if he goes the Walker Lee Ashley or Willie Mobley route and amounts to nothing, then we will see where Sean stands.

I guess it would be pretty funny if you're a dick who finds enjoyment in the misfortune of others.

So... he would have to go JUCO for a couple of years before he makes tens of millions of dollars. Yep, terrible misforune. I don't know how he would ever get over the trauma. That was sarcasm by the way-just in case...

Its obvious academics have not been the priority for SH his Sr. year. All the appearances, visits, hoopla, etc could turn out to be a bad decision on the part of his agent (dad). He played it to the max which probably didn't benefit SH in the long run. If so, I feel for SH as he may have a tough road ahead being a student/athlete. Edward and Gjere could have chosen similar paths to a much lesser degree but they are likely enjoying their Sr. year and getting ready for college while SH was busy packing/repacking his suitcase, rushing to catch his next flight, etc.

Care to share some examples?

Does the name Patrick Hall ring a bell? Last year he was a 5 star recruit that wasn't admitted to SC and had to go to JUCO this year. He's back now, but the notion that any stud athlete can get into SC is uninformed.

With them, if there is a will there is a way

What major fb program wouldn't find a way to admit a great player if he cleared the NCAA clearing house? Are you seriously going to tell me that if Henderson committed to MN that Brewster wouldn't find a way to get him in?

Good point followed by a REAL bad point. Anyone who's paid attention to the Gophers the last two years knows that getting any player Brewster wants into school is very far from the truth.

He'd get in only if he qualifies and then only if his new SAT wasn't a lot better than his previous SAT. We know from experience around here how that works.

Well, let's see if he finishes the basketball season...
