MARCH MADNESS, U.S.A. -- Only 6 days shy of Selection Sunday, I have 23 of the 36 at-large bids locked up. For those 13 available at-large bids, I have 25 teams still under consideration. As for the B1G, for now I'm keeping Nebraska and Penn State on the at-large board, but I have a hard time seeing any scenario where either team gets selected. If you twisted my arm and asked me which one had a better chance, I'd go with Penn State (but don't hold your breath).
There are 10 new teams in the Field of 68, including 2 at-larges, Texas and UCLA. K-State remains my "last team in", while Marquette moves into the "first team out" spot.
Not surprisingly, the ACC, Big East, Big XII, Pac 12, and SEC tournaments will go a long way in deciding who gets the last of those 13 at-large spots. By my estimation there are 21 teams in those five tournaments yet to secure NCAA bids but are right there in the Bubblicious mix: Alabama, Arizona State, Baylor, Butler, Creighton, Florida State, K-State, Louisville, Marquette, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Providence, Syracuse, Texas, UCLA, USC, Utah, and Washington. The others still under consideration (in addition to Nebraska & Penn State) are Boise State and Saint Mary's.
Current RPI rank is noted prior to team. The record in parentheses is the team's record vs. teams currently projected into the Field of 68.
