And I'm reminded again of block quality. While talking to Bridges on BTN, they show a clip of him blocking a Dupree layup attempt into the 15th row.
 




Wow congrats Reggie. Would be even more of a force if he limits his fouls. But what a great honor.

Love it. No free baskets when Lynch is around.
 

The guy is a machine! Learn not to foul and the sky has no limits. And maybe the fouls are why he wins the award?. Just learn to dial it down when his presence is critical.
 



Never ever would have thought this watching Reggie at Edina. Always thought he was a shorter, smaller version of Eliason in HS, just a tall dude who gets a ton of blocks (and fouls) just because he tries to swat every shot. Never thought his shot blocking would translate to the D1 and Big Ten level. He still does get a ton of fouls but the blocks more than makeup for it. He is just such a presence in the paint.

Lynch's defense and rebounding might be a bit of an upgrade over Joey King's.
 

I'd say the best comparable at least with respect to Reggie's approach (trying to block everything) would be Joel Pryzbilla.
 


Great job Reggie! He is such a difference maker and hope he can stay on the court during our tourney run.

Not sure Reggie is a great pure defender but when a guy blocks 26 more shots than the second place guy and more then doubles the total of the 3rd place guy I would say the honor is well deserved. Has been amazing to watch him as a shot blocker this year, hopefully he applies himself in the off-season to find ways to avoid the silly fouls. If he does that he can be an absolute monster next year. Man it is exciting to think about what we have coming back next year.

Defensive player of the year - Lynch
First team Freshman - Amir Coffey
First team - Nate Mason
Third team - Jordan Murphy
and a really nice supporting cast with some other young guys that hopefully can jump right in.

Reggie mostly blocks his player, the problem with Pryzbilla is he left his man to block someone else, when he missed, the opposing center had a slam put back. Lynch also rarely blocks the ball out of bounds he keeps it in play and its usually the start of a fast break.
