***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT OHIO STATE IN-GAME THREAD!!!!***

Just furious with this team. How many times can you shoot yourself in the foot? They have talent, the games are right there but they either go into a shell, can't make a play, or they commit the stupidest mistakes. Pitino deserves some flack but eventually his guys on the floor have to have get their heads out of their asses. I don't know how many self-inflicted wounds I could count each game

smh...

Same ______, different day.

We missed a lot of bunnies at the end. Keep working hard and good things will happen.

We showed more heart at the end (scrapping for loose balls, etc.). Need to come out desperate against Maryland.

I am to the point now where I won't watch another game until I see that they have won a game. The loss tonight was completely avoidable if they didn't play absolutely atrocious basketball for ~17 minutes.

Lots of people jumping in the deep end.

Our 2nd have schedule in B1G play isn't nearly as difficult. Just relax, step away from the ledge.

I'm afraid it won't matter if we're 3-6. I don't see us going 6-3 or 7-2 regardless of how easy our schedule is. Maryland is an absolute must win.

This team can beat Maryland. Coffey needs to get a little or a lot more active off the ball. Need 20 shots a game out of him.

I want to believe you, but you are telling me after losing 4 in a row you have no doubts? And OSU and PSTATE are part of the losing streak. Yes they were road losses, but when you lose at home you have to win some on the road...

Another moral victory....

Pitino has to say to Coffey: listen, the Red Sea isn't going to part for you, quit camping our at the wing and make it happen. Good things will happen.

Are technical fouls not tolerated by B10 anymore? If ever Lil Ricky was going to get one it was down the stretch with some of the atrocious calls right in front of our bench. Bobby Knight would have been tossing chairs. 4 losses in a row- time to call out these homer officials.

Was there a more Gopher sequence ever than Mason missing the transition layup to tie the game (not that easy of a look really) and then Ohio State trying to turn the ball over but it hitting the player in the perfect spot of the back that it doesn't go out of bounds, doesn't carom to a Gopher player, or doesn't roll down his back and off his foot...it just gently hits his back and he turns around and picks it up.

Bakary and Reggie both had pretty easy 3 point play opportunities that garnered a grand total of 2 points. They both missed the point blank layup/dunk and went 1-2 from the line. Reggie and Jordan combined to miss at least 3 times inside 3 feet during crunch time. Bakary took a ridiculous 3 with the Gophers down 4....and the lead would balloon back out after that point. The defense on the interior was terrible with tOSU's center scoring a career high. If the bigs were even mediocre on both ends of the floor or better than that on one end of the floor that would have been enough for a win.

Credit to Pitino for getting a good look for Springs to tie the game.

Nice to see Nate Mason knock down some shots, but it might be too little too late as that's four L's in a row.

Agree with the assessment and I like our bigs generally but watching them put the ball on the floor and dribble is really heart breaking. Seriously, don't the bigs watch game videos and see other bigs on other teams not try dribbling in the lane?

Absolutely terrible first 18 minutes and then to make it even worse the refs were basically wearing OSU jerseys tonight. No call on the Coffey dunk, Springs fouled late instead you call it out of bounds, Mason and Coffey combine to force turnover instead foul on Mason, Lynch called for travel that was wrong, and Williams gets away with 2 travels for a floater were just some of the screw ups from the refs in the late in the 2nd half.

Still like this team and see 5 wins in a row. The Big 10 is not very good. What is not acceptable is playing atrocious defense. 78 to OHIO STATE is a formula for losing.

From ChrisLongKSTP on Twitter: From the 4 minute mark where the Gophers were down 2: 1-8 from the field and 3 TO's

Now you had the questionable Lynch travel (why not go up on the left side? he ended up getting blocked anyway and he took an ETERNITY to get his shot up) and the Springs foul as two of the turnovers. Another play that wasn't a turnover was a mauling of Coffey that took place on the possession after the Lynch travel that had Pitino on the court going crazy.

So there were a lot of things you can point to in the final four minutes that were just bad luck, but once again a Pitino team does not perform on the offensive end of the court in crunch time.

This. More talent might make a difference in a couple games, but disappearing crunch time offense is a legacy story with this staff.

lol, if its 5 in a row would that be concerning? I hope you are right, but I am mystified as to where you are drawing this confidence from. After last season you still think we are gonna get it done over th next ten games? That would be awesome, its just seems hard to believe.

They are playing well...missing a few shots down low. Nate looked good but was hesitant a few times. I see finishing 6 and 4. DANCING they will be

I'm not going to question the players' overall intelligence but their basketball IQ is lacking (to say the least). How does Konate not know he can't take that shot? How many times have we fouled an outside shooter this season? How many times are we caught just standing around and give the other team an easy bucket? How many times has a post player gotten the ball on the post and dribbles right into another defender?

Way too much of this stuff. It reflects poorly on this staff. Absolutely need the Maryland game or I think it will get really bad.

And yes, the refs were downright atrocious in the last 2 minutes.

Will also add that the bad stretches need to be not as bad. That's what is killing his team. You can't fall behind by 17 in the first half and expect to win.

I was told that after the loss at Penn St when I said 3-7 is possible. It's very possible. Nothing wrong with being out on the ledge. It's ok out there.

Lots of examples of this tonight. I thought Curry killed a lot of the momentum when we got it down to 4 with a series of really bad decisions. Coach thankfully yanked him right after that.

With this staff? Springs (who played well) missed a corner three wide open. Mason missed a layup (21 points but only 7-18). Lynch missed a 2 footer. Coffey got the ball about 5 feet from the bucket and lost it. They had great opportunities. This wasn't a case like in some other games where the quality of shots was bad- they just could not convert tonight. Our big weakness remains our inside guys - Lynch and Murphy can't convert easy buckets. Murphy walked late on a post up.

Beeg it is the overall offense. It is putrid. Minimal flow. Watch other offenses and notice the way the ball and players move. It is not there for our boys.
