Looking at RS Offensive stats, if he keeps it up, I think he has a reasonable shot at these awards.

RS- is tied for league lead in overall TD's at 9 total.

RS- is second in overall rushing yards at 701 and tied with two others for rushing TD lead at 8.

RS- is leading the league in All-Purpose yards with 1001.

I think if RS continues this pace and productivity he could have a very good chance at taking home these two awards his sophomore year. I say Clayes keeps feeding RS so he has a shot at the end of the year for this.

I was thinking last night that he might be one of the two or three best RBs in the conference. He's not the hammer that Brooks is, but he's a lot stronger than his size would indicate. I haven't been wowed by Johnson's overall offensive schemes, but he has gotten the RBs into the passing game and both Smith and Brooks have shown they can be weapons when used that way.

UPDATED STATS:

RS - Is the league leader in rushing TD's (13) and overall TD's (14). He is also among nations leaders in overall TD's.

RS- Is second in overall rushing yards with 954 yards. League leader (Saquan Barkley) has (1,055 yards).

RS - Is second in all-purpose yards with 1,299 yards. League leader (Saquan Barkley) has (1329 yards)

I wish ML handed the ball off to RS on his two touchdowns so RS would have 5 total TDs for the game. I think if RS finishes strong the last 3 games then he has a great chance to grab these awards.

He's having a great year, but I don't he has a chance at the OPY award. He has a chance at the RB of the year but think it will be tough to overtake Barkley.

Who was the last gopher to win OPY or RB of the year award?

I think he needs 3 monster type games in overall yardage and TD's. That might be tough against Becky.

If he is not AT LEAST second team All-B1G Ten, it will be an absolute travesty.

Who was the last gopher to win OPY or RB of the year award?

I was curious so took a look. Looks like the OPY award has been given out every year since 1990 and no Gopher has won it.

RB of the year has only been given out yearly since 2011 and no Gopher has won it.

Here's a list of Gophers that have won Yearly Big Ten Awards:

Offensive Lineman of the year 2005 Greg Eslinger
Defensive Lineman of the year 2000 Karon Riley shared with Wendell Bryant WI
Freshman of the Year 1986 Darrell Thompson (currently named after him)
Freshman of the Year 2003 Laurence Maroney
Coach of the Year 1999 Glen Mason
Coach of the Year 2014 Jerry Kill
Tight End of the Year 2014 Maxx Williams
Punter of the Year 2014 Peter Mortell

List from Wikipedia

It would be sweet if he won a conference award of some kind.
