Seven players hit double figures as the fifth-ranked Maryland women’s basketball team blew past Bluefield State, 146-17, Wednesday night at the XFINITY Center in the Terrapins’ first exhibition match of the year.
Freshman Blair Watson led the way with 29 points, including five three-pointers, with 10 rebounds, six assists and four steals. Ieshia Small and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough added seven points apiece and freshman Jenna Staiti scored 17 with eight boards.
Brionna Jones notched 11 points, while Kristen Confroy and freshman Sarah Myers each added 10. Freshman Destiny Slocum added nine points with nine assists.
“I thought tonight was a good tune up for us,” head coach Brenda Frese said. “We have so many new players between our freshmen and Ieshia Small. We played with a lot of enthusiasm and played really hard. A lot of great things and we got rid of those jitters.”
