Star Trib: Gophers to Play at US Bank Stadium

Lame. Sauce.

Can't wait to play (insert crappy team) in a 67k seat stadium.

US Bank

The smart move would be to open the Big 10 with a game against Wisconsin or Iowa, or maybe the ACC Challenge game.

Whomever it is it will likely be my first time in the joint, unless I go to a HS football game there.

Necessary to check configuration and logistics, etc. before the Final Four there. I don't know if that was addressed in the article, since I don't click on Strib links.

Hopefully there will be another game or two prior to the Final Four. Seems like one game isn't enough to get the kinks out. It took a few configurations in the Dump before they got it reasonably figured out. No mention in the article about any other basketball events and it even said there would not be a regional or opening weekend in 2018. Too bad.

A vote for Iowa State

Make it part of a "quasi home & home".

Be ready to wait an hour for a hot dog/coke at Wells Fargo Arena, based on experience at the NCAA this past spring.

Neutral location which isn't really neutral so it will help our strength of schedule/RPI while still giving us home court

If some fans have their way, it'll be somebody like Iowa State, which would put as many (or more) fans there as we will. I don't like that idea. Bring in a big name opponent from far away, so we can maintain our advantage.

+1 Why give Iowa State even more motivation to recruit Minnesota? Let's get a team from one of the coasts.

I agree with the post below that we might regret having a regional recruiting rival come in to a place they would pack. Home and home in the home arenas I would take in a heartbeat, though. Louisville seems like a good bet for a big name, but why not UCLA or Clemson to relive long past great moments?

If Long Beach State isn't available ;) , perhaps it would be an ACC team (ACC challenge and all). It would be more fun to have a four team double header.

I have always wanted the Gophers to get a home and home with Gonzaga...just think it'd be a fun game against a quality opponent

Let the wolves play pre season games there the next 2 years instead or host the HS basketball playoffs there. It might be a nice gimmick for a successful WNBA franchise too.

Count me in on the double header idea. Sign a sponsor, get Wisconsin to be a partner, and bring in two big name programs with final four aspirations. Big crowd, national interest, national TV.... go for it.:)

I was at a double header in Oakland, CA when Stanford & Cal played Duke & Georgia. It was great.

I like this idea. The Lynx are already out of Target for next summer during the remodel.

No Iowa State, no Wisconsin...you don't share this with regional schools. Play Louisville, or bring in an East Coast team where we are recruiting like Syracuse or Georgetown.

Awesome plan. Play someone good so that we get the game nationally televised.

I really hope we don't schedule Iowa St or Marquette or another regional school. We should be able to do better especially considering we would give up a true home court advantage. It wouldn't be as great as at Williams and coaches know that. Go big. Louisville has a been there done that feel. But I would take them over Iowa St.

Everyone seems to want Louisville for the Pitino connection, but there's no guarantee Pitino is here after this season.

I think it's going to have to be somewhat of a regional team in order to fill the place. Might as well make it a blue blood and invite Kansas up.

I don't think it's that people "want" Louisville. I think it is likely that we end up with Louisville because that is the closest thing to an elite program that would take a one-time neutral site game with us. And most of the reason I think that is because daddy Pitino is the coach. I mean, we aren't getting Duke, Kentucky, or UNC unless something crazy happens. At least that's the camp that I'm in. I honestly don't want it to be Louisville. Think the whole father-son thing is overplayed and don't really care to see us play Louisville. I'd love to see us play Kansas in that game, but I don't see the incentive for Kansas to take the game.
