One thing about the Ekpes -- both Hank and Scott -- is they are team players who aren't in this for individual glory.

"I feel that numbers don't always tell the full story," Hank Ekpe said. "A lot of times with our scheme, the defensive line, we’re in our gap, and we might not make the play. But at the end of the day, we might have either caused the play to go to a linebacker or a DB. So it’s all about just being in the right position. You can’t be selfish."

That's not to say Ekpe isn't hungry for more sacks after seeing his totals go from 1.5 to 2.5 the past two years.

"Numbers don't always tell the story," he said. "But they definitely are a bonus."

Go Gophers!!

It would be nice to see them get some more direct pressure, but yeah numbers don't always tell the story if you're playing it in a way that doesn't get the flashy numbers.

Hank stopped and said hi to my 6 year old at practice last week. Cool dude.

Your right lots of times the numbers don't tell the story. Best example is when a cornerback gets the most tackles. Maybe the opponents felt he was the weak sister and directed their offensive structure at his side, while staying away from the other side. Unless I see the actual game, I don't put much credence into most tackles.

I think he might prove a different point. Watching Tyrone play I felt like he got a lot of tackles cleaning up messes left by other DBs... He was good, but I'm not sure you want him to hog it all for that reason.
