Tracy Claeys on Sports Huddle 7-17-16

Despite being much a much lower ranked recruit than Green it's not outside the realm of possibility. Was there ever any talk of bringing him in as an athlete rather than QB? Big knock on him has to be his height but he looks very athletic which could offset that deficiency. Johnson's guy, so have to think he will get a fair look.

"He threw for more than 2,300 yards with 25 touchdown passes and just four interceptions as a senior, while running for another 1,200 yards and 21 scores. As a junior, he passed for 1,145 yards and 13 TDs and rushed for 542 yards and seven scores. He finished his high school career with a 24-4 record as a starter."

Johnson recruited him as a QB. He is the type of QB that really fits what Johnson wants.

I agree, definitely a true dual threat guy and from what I've watched of ULL they ran a ton of option plays. Croft and Green are obviously also athletic. It will come down to who is smarter/able to run the offense, more accurate, has the stronger arm, and more athletic. I suppose that's Captain obvious stuff.

Yes, he is a Johnson recruit, but that was for ULL. Obviously, Johnson liked him enough to bring him to the U. But don't assume that he is Johnson's ideal QB for a B1G level offense.

If Croft (i.e. the only guy with any experience)isn't starting in 2017, something went wrong. If Leidner is healthy all season, Croft may see some mop up duty in a blow out. Other than that, I don't see the other two playing a snap, if there are no injuries.

I disagree. A younger guy can have more talent than a guy signed the previous year and beat him out w/o something having "gone wrong".
