I suddenly feel a whole lot better about the Gophers' quarterback situation going forward
than the one in Aggieland. Isn't it funny how things can turn in this sport in such a short
period of time?

I think the fellow that'll play in the bowl for them will show maturity and leadership,
which is often enough. The younger they are, the more crazy it can get.

I like our situation, as Leidner will be back for another season. I'm interested to see that,
and I think he'll have a good bowl game also. I like Demry Croft, and Seth Green will be one
to watch. I wouldn't be surprised if another qb joins the fold as well.

I think its important in recruiting that you be realistic with the kids, and tell them they have
to compete for their snaps. If a kid doesn't like that, I'm not sure that's the long term investment
you want to make.
 



A QB needs to have talent but without a OL it can get overshadowed if the QB is running for his life and not given time to run those deep routes

new Coordinator and OL coach and who knows we got talented players that were not coached up very well and might just be ready to bust out some can of whoop a$$

Manziel was a great QB, but he also had an amazing OL in front of him - some of those guys are playing professionally now. Our recent QBs haven't quite had that level of protection - we have some good individual players, but the unit as a whole has not been there.

Take that plus trying to run an offense for two very different QBs and never being really sure who is getting the start, and it's a recipe for failure. Two 5* guys who were probably promised playing time, with another 5* right behind them, means you may have a split locker room or a vacuum of leadership.

Allen was a loss, but we may understand his reasons in time. He was close to Spavital, our OC, and Spav is taking much of the heat for this season. Perhaps Sumlin couldn't guarantee him that Spav was staying.

Murray was a cancer that needed to go. I'm not sure if we ever really wanted him or if we just wanted to keep him from going to Austin, but the team seems to be of the opinion that he is entitled and our fanbase believes his father was a helicopter parent.

The team and fanbase is rallying around Hubenak. It may be the first time in a year that everyone is in on something together at this level. If he plays well against Louisville, what a tremendous story that will be. He and backup QB Connor McQueen have always wanted to play at A&M since they were kids. They didn't pull recruiting stunts or act like primadonnas.

Recruit some big boys to play on the line like Mike Sherman did, get Spav a little help from a more senior co-OC, and get Tate Martell enrolled as soon as possible. I see no major problems unless Hubenak just can't perform above a JuCo level. Losing talented guys sucks, but we had talent to spare.

I think, however, you will see more and more of this type of thing in college football in the coming years. It's a sad trend, but players who have been coddled by parents, media, coaches, fans, etc. their whole lives don't want to compete for their spot and don't have the patience to wait it out. They don't understand the importance of being a team player and how sometimes that means riding the bench and practicing hard. They also can't see the long-term picture.

This comes across as sour grapes and major spin. You're obviously much closer to the situation than I am, but cmon. Kyler Murray was the most highly touted prep QB in Texas history, and a Texas A&M legacy. I'm betting a huge portion of the Aggie fanbase is incredibly disappointed about losing him and about how the way things worked out.

This whole saga really puts the pressure on Sumlin to deliver in 2016, especially with him pulling down $4 million a year and coming off three consecutive mediocre seasons.

I can definitely understand how that could come across that way. However, Kyler and Kevin Murray both lost a lot of trust and goodwill by our fanbase when they went to Charlie Strong at the 11th hour of his recruitment trying to get a better deal. If you're legacy and verbally commit to a program, you don't run to the enemy like that. So, we've been a little sore with him ever since.

We were definitely excited to get him, it helped to solidify a potential QB-U situation where we have brought in some of the best recruits in the nation following Manziel's time. As the season progressed, Kyler did nothing but hurt his own reputation and approval amongst our fanbase. He told our OC "**** you" on the sidelines and had to sit a game (although they let him dress out). No matter how bad you think a coach is, you don't talk to them like that. He also under-performed on the field. Losing two five star QBs in a week stings, but one of the two needed to go

It seems that dad was trying to use Allen's departure for leverage, thinking Sumlin wouldn't dare risk losing another QB. If that's the case, I applaud Sumlin and don't ever want to see the Murray name in College Station again. Plenty has started coming out recently about the behavior of the Murray family, but we were willing to tolerate it when they seemed like they were on board with our program.

I'm not connected to the situation at all. I actually am kind of a Longhorns fan (spent time in Austin, had fun, etc., so I cheer for them a bit). However, what he is saying, people have been saying since before Murray left. You can even tell by the reaction of the fanbase, people seemed to be more upset by Kyle Allen leaving than by Kyler Murray leaving.

The stuff about his dad and all of that, people have been saying. So, I don't know if it's true or not, but I don't think it's sour grapes, people seemed to have soured on the kid (rightfully or not, IDK) before he left.
 



TexasAggie11....both you and I know what it is to be true Aggies. If Hubenak and McQueen are true Aggies at heart,
I've always thought that was worth at least a * or two in the recruiting rankings. Bleed Maroon= Go that extra mile.

Give me a decent, competent, mature QB that loves his school any day over some hot-shot looking for the best deal.
