Konate is not good tonight

Of all the guys to choose to keep in during garbage time, Murphy would be my second to last choice (Mason given the Dorsey injury).

Nice to get a win, hoping for good news on Dorsey.

Some random thoughts, for what it's worth:

1. Konate against the big fellas from Purdue will be horrendous. I'm not sure he belongs on a D1 floor right now.
2. I'm not sure Gaston belongs on any basketball floor right now.
3. Morris drives me crazy, but he provides a little scoring punch occasionally, which this squad needs.
4. The Gophers need Buggs if they want to win games. I wonder if the OSU outcome would have been different if Pitino hadn't left him to rot on the bench.
5. They'll need King to score 20 a couple more times this season. And I think he will.
6. I still don't see what Dupree brings to the table.
7. Call me deluded, bu Gilbert kind of intrigues me. I wonder why we haven't seen more of him.
8. Murphy is indispensable.

That was enjoyable. Might be the last win to enjoy for awhile.

Agree on all points.

18 rebounds for Murphy is crazy. Were they really small or did Murphy just dominate?

Konate is horrendous period. Even with players 4-5 inches shorter then he is...just too raw

Good list. I remember Konate being much more athletic last year. I wonder if his injury has set him back.

Konate

Konate has decent quickness. He has some upper body strength for a so. His issues all seem to be related to lower body strength. Lack of balance, positioning, and just being raw. Might as well post him up as he has a decent jump hook, his rebounding will never be good until he works on the lower body.

Remember he had that foot fracture?

He could use Murphy's hands. Murphy has great mitts. Bakary struggles with that; fumbles a lot of basic passes, rebounds. Still a project, but we need some minutes out of him.

5 giving Gophers best chance to succeed; "Play 8, trust 7"

Assuming each player is fully engaged and giving maximum effort, I think it's pretty apparent the 5 that give the Gophers the best chance to win games. The 3 Ms (Mason, Morris, Murphy) + Buggsy and King. No matter what lineup we have out there Gophers are never going to be a good rebounding team, so play your best 5. Far from a perfect blend, but it's our best one.

Dorsey & McBrayer (like both these freshmen) and Konate is a decent bench, and presto Pitino has his, "Play 8, trust 7" rotation as Coach Mo always liked to call it. Sprinkle in Gilbert and now Sharp, as needed, to fill the gaps.

Just sayin.:)

You caught my drift, 19, but am including everyone in that statement! Pitino himself has said Murphy doesn't always play with his full motor on. Man, if/when Pitino gets him playing full motor all the time, look out below.

Yeah I know what you mean. Tons of physical talent in Buggs, but his mind seems to drift. After he makes a basket; his facial expression and body language are often just weird.

Star Wars night looked like some intern went to the party costume store an hour before the game. Wtf was that???
