***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA VS LOUISIANA-MONROE IN-GAME THREAD***

Dorsey is having yet another game with way too many turnovers. I really hope he gets the hang of taking care of the ball fast. That could make a huge difference for us Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You watching the right game? I saw that he only had one today.

Hopefully they will push the ball inside more to balance out the poor 3pt shooting.

I couldn't understand why they didn't do that more particularly given how they were shooting free throws.

I've been a King hater at times but I really like the way he's developed. Kind of feel the same about Morris.

Love the fricken so-called fans like this. A "hater"--what a tool. People can be critical but some of the crap said about Gopher whipping boys like Weber, Mitch, Elliot, Joey, etc. is sickening at times.

Lolololol

Mishmash of observations. Really glad to see Gilbert get some minutes today. King with 20 points in 27 minutes. Diedhiou without a rebound in his 10 minutes. Konate and Dorsey each with 20 minutes, Bakary with 2 rebounds, Kevin with 6. So, 30 minutes out of the 5 spot and 2 rebounds. That's got to get better. On the plus side, there was no mention of BK's foot, so it must be fine. Dupree looks like he might be trying a little too hard. Nice steady game by Mason. Buggs looks improved. Pitino had him out there for 32 minutes. If I remember correctly, Morris went to the bench with the score 50-50, Buggs coming in to replace him. Huge play moments later with Deng picking up his 4th foul and going to the bench. Call really favored the Gophers. After last night, it didn't bother me a bit. Looking forward to hearing from the people who were at the game.

First time being able to watch the team this year and thought it was a pretty solid 1st half and got a little sloppy in the 2nd half but could to see them be able to respond the ULM run and put the game away. Thought Buggs looked improved although still some careless turnovers he seemed to use his athleticism much more than previous seasons. Really liked the toughness and the athleticism Murphy showed seemed like he grabbed every rebound when he was on the court. Mason looked very solid and should be a leader of this young team I really liked the lineup with him and Dorsey together. Looking forward to see how this team performs in the tournament this weekend against a little tougher level of competition.

Horrible call.

Bugs could be soooo good, but he just disappears so often.

He is definitely better, and he's bigger. I'm interested if his lack of ball iq changes quicker with the increased game time.

Still prefer the 'small' lineup of Dorsey, Mason, Morris, Buggs, King with Murphy first off the bench substituting for anyone of the five.

Only had him for 1 in both these box scores Woozee. He was fortunate in at least 2 instances. One, the ball went off his leg out of bounds, refs missed it. The second, he got bailed out by getting fouled.

Ah that makes sense.

Good to know the ESPN tracker has more stats. In the stadium I hate how score and many of the others just have pts, assists, rebounds and minutes.

I liked seeing a few nice post moves out of Konate. It was a bit frustrating watching the guys clank numerous threes instead trying to feed him in the post. I don't remember ULM trying to double team much when our guys were posting up.

I find it much easier to watch a young team struggle at times and show flashes of good things to come instead of a veteran team that underwhelms or folds under pressure.

Offense is pretty good with this lineup in the game but get in conference play I just don't see how you can do it for very long, the lack of size would be exploited from a defensive standpoint. Some combination of Buggs, King, and Murphy is going to get a bit of play I would think.

Dorsey is really starting to look pretty good, he is going to be one of the top freshman in the league.

They looked good today. Murphy and Buggs holding it down inside in absence of much from Konate or Gaston. King is just solid. Mason has been pretty quiet, but I have a feeling he will turn it on when needed. He had a couple nice plays right after we fell behind, IIRC.

The team has a long way to go, but they are showing some good signs. King, Mason and Buggs are off to good starts. The young guys play defense pretty well. Murphy adds a good rebounder. When the perimeter shots are falling they will win some games. McBrayer and Dorsey will start hitting shots. The future is bright!

We will win a few games in the big ten where we just shoot the lights out and teams get frustrated others we will loose because we cannot hit the broadside of the barn. Kind of a madden esque comment, but that's where we are.

I have zero expectations for the team this year, just ready to watch the young guys develop. The one thing I really hope to see though is the development of Konate and Diedhiou. If they can turn into just solid rotational centers by the end of the season, it's going to go a long way in setting us up for next year. I think we are going to be set at PG and wing going into next year.

Aka the exciting brand of basketball Pitino alludes to. Let's try to at least enjoy the ride.

I hope Gaston develops, because he has the size and athleticism, but he still seems a ways away from figuring it out. With Buggs developing as a shot blocker I am wondering if Pitino will rotate him around as a back up center in small line ups. He's a guy who can block shots and rebound some, but also pop outside and cause a match up issue for an opposing center. Right now our first 8 guys are Mason, Dorsey, McBrayer, Morris, King, Murphy, Buggs and Konate. After that, Gilbert could become #9 and Gaston looks like deeper depth.

Fun to watch! They will be very up nd down with all the young players but you can see the talent.

+1 all around.

Look at the bright side, you'll be on his ignore list now. It is a legendary list.

Agree with all. Was thinking the same as the bold.

Even though Pitino seems to be thinking BIG for the B1G - I could see using King at center in small lineups. He seems to have sharp elbows, he is a little less mobile than Buggs and Murphy for that matter, and I think he could help clog up the middle a little bit. Think Oto at center a couple years back. He could also slide out for his 3 pt shot on offense (like Kaminsky :) ). Buggs looks like he wants to come out of left field for his blocks - maybe Murphy too. Just a thought to use King at Center if Pitino ever decides to go small.

Did we play any zone last night?
