Pizza downtown, NE and/or Dinkytown?

Figure with all the TCU visitors this could be posted on the FB board.

If not, feel free to move

Where is the best pizza downtown? Nordeast? Dinkytown? Any must haves? Is there any place with decent deep dish? Asking for a friend.

Edited but if you know if "Bezza" is downtown, NE or Dinkytown, let me know.

Giordano's just opened in Uptown off Hennepin and they are known for their deep dish.

If Giordano's has a huge line, I can't imagine if a Lou Malnati's moved in. Line would be around the block.

As far as other pizza is concerned, North Loop has Luce and Black Sheep - both pretty good options downtown. Mesa in Dinkytown is the best over there IMO (note, not what I'd call a sit-down place - they have a counter but it's small).

Punch Pizza - There's on in Stadium Village, one in St. Anthony Main (gateway to NE), and I think there's one somewhere downtown too.

The two best pizza places in my opinion are Pizzeria Lola in South Minneapolis and Pig Ate My Pizza in Robbinsdale.

Agree on Pizzeria Lola in South Mpls. I also like Black Sheep which is in the North Loop area, downtown St. Paul, and in south Mpls on Eat Street (Nicollet Ave). Have not been to Pig Ate My Pizza, but have heard good things. For deep dish, if you don't want to mess with the line at Giordanos, I think Divanni's has a good one (multiple locations).

I think waiting in line for some deep dish Chicago at some glorified chain is pretty pathetic and very 1992. Doesn't anyone remember Edwardo's, and I actually used to like going to Eduardo's in the south loop, Printers Row District. Edwardo's did not exactly light it up in Bloomington back in the 90's. I thought the Green MIll deep dish is pretty much the same thing. It is OK.

I think Psycho Suzi's on Marshall makes some really good Pizza For the money/ value proposition I'd take Broadway Pizza over those woodfired places, although I do like the Black Sheep, Neo, Punch product, it just does not fill me up.

Does anyone know if Parkway Pizza in South Minneapolis is any good? I like a good classic sort of greasy thin crust pizza.

Parkway is okay for that style. I think Savoy's on East 7th or Dulono's for that thin Minnesota old school pizza.
I agree that Black sheep or Lolo have the best pizza these days. Nea by Nye's is good too.

The old Chanticlear Pizza in Fridley and Blaine (back when I was a kid, based upon 1950s/ 60s Minneapolis Beeks Pizza), plus some of the Carbone's locations used to also do fairly well with that old school thin crust pizza, which I still prefer if it is done right.

I've heard lots of good things about Black Sheep but never been.

Pizza Luce is really good too.

There is something about the Pizza Luce crust that I do not like, and I cannot define what it is. The ingredients are solid, but I just am not a big fan of the Pizza. I'd much rather have an Andreas Pizza from one of the Skyway locations.

The co-workers are organizing an event with a truckload of it for a lunch on Thursday, so I'll know by game time if I like Pizza Luce product better than I used to like it.

Also, it thinkhttp://grammar.yourdictionary.com/style-and-usage/mispron.html "never been" xxxxxxxxx is poor grammar (never been there), just like no one should ever pronounce the letter T in OFTEN, it has been silent for 400 years.

Also, to help me get past a pet peeve, please stop ending sentences in "never been". Where? dangling crap! Furthermore to help me sleep better,, just like no one should ever pronounce the letter T in OFTEN, it has been silent for 400 years.

O

Don't say: off ten | Do say: often

Comment: The [t] was silent in the pronunciation of the word "often" until circa 19th century English when more people became able to write and spell. Today the [t] is widely pronounced in England, the British Isles, Australia and in some regions of the U.S. Most U.S. dictionaries show both pronunciations, frequently showing the unspoken

Black Sheep on Washington Ave or the new Eat Street location. Dulono's or Galactic in Lyn-Lake. Psycho Suzi's in NE.

This. Pizzeria Lola is the best in town right now IMO. Corner of 56th and Xerxes in south Minneapolis. Korean BBQ is ridiculously good. More traditional the Sweet Italian is great. Now onto the real important stuff: If you're coming down from Winnipeg how about smuggling in a chili burger and poutine from SuperBoys for me? Nothing better than SuperBoys to make you forget a loss on the rink.

Ski-U-Mah!

I am more of a VJ's and Red Top guy though SuperBoys' definitely brings the volume. Winnipeg has a lot of negatives but it kicks the crap out of any other city when it comes to greasy diner burgers.
