Reusse doing some serious trolling & fishing w/ this stinker of a "column"

Guarantee you he doesn't even personally believe 90% of the stuff he writes anymore. His sole intent seems to be to try and flame and intentionally stir the pot with far fetched hyperbole and snark on specific topics that he knows will get certain fan bases going.....whether it be Gophers, Vikings, Twins, Wild, Wolves, etc.

P.S. Reusse......last time I checked the state of Minnesota taxpayers just chipped in $550 million or so on a giant sand crawler looking stadium for that billionaire Wilf and the Vikings. And yet here you foolishly are attempting in this steaming deuce of a column to take liberty and cheap shots about the state contributing 40% towards the completion of a $280 million on-campus college football stadium for the state's flagship university football program?! A program that actually has national championships to it's name unlike the precious Vikings? Come on Reusse.....I was finally starting to think perhaps you were better that this crap you are spewing out in this column. I guess I was wrong. Smh.

You wrote that as if you actually think he will care or respond to you.

Not even a remotely fair, accurate or even realistic opinion on his part, imo. I had already started a thread too btw.

Thanks, will merge! I'm always just too slow for Bleed...and you apparently!

The Big Ten Coach of the Year will be paid the eighth highest salary out of fourteen programs.
The Players eat their meals in the lobby of the Bierman Building.
Material from the ceiling has to be cleaned off the field after every indoor practice.
National commentators have stated that the Gophers have the worst facilities in the Big Ten.

Season Ticket holders will now be paying large premiums which will go towards non revenue sports.

This column is outrageous!!

As proven by his tweets to GopherLady, Reusse reads this site religiously. He cares deeply.

He doesn't care he just enjoys trolling you. Any every time he rustles your jimmies he knows he won. He won't respond to you or another poster individually because he could care less.

Oh My God....he won!?!?!?!

Could not care less. Cut and paste. Grrrrrrrrrrrr.

Lazy. What percentage of FB/BB revenues MN pays out to other sports vs. Ohio St., Michigan, Michigan St., etc. If he bothered to do a minuscule amount of research we would hardly seem like "hogs". He obviously wants FB/BB to be good, he's written 1000 columns complaining about it. Now he is on his way to 100 columns complaining about us trying to be good in FB/BB? He's argued against himself so frequently it's hard to keep up.

I no longer read Reusse or really care what he thinks, I'll open a threead like this just to get a general idea of what people are talking about, I will not bother getting the specifics. I refuse to get worked up over what he says.

Wouldn't it be helpful if a columnist with this take (sorry, hate that) actually cited facts about how the budgets of the rest of Gopher sports rank among their peers? Is that too much to ask?

Then he could mention what donations were at Northwestern pre and post Rose Bowl?

I still see XXXL Wisconsin 1994 Rose Bowl sweatshirts around. How much has the Badger athletic department made off merchandise revenue?

LAZY

A troll is gonna troll.

I'm starting to wonder if Reusse has caught 'the disease' from Sidney.

This column is outrages!!

Are you the poster 'highabove' or did you just copy/paste their comments (including misspellings)?

First off, Hi Pat.

Secondly:
Football last won a Big Ten/National title in 1967
Men's Basketball last won a Big Ten/NCAA title in 1982.

Every single sport (except mens cross country) has won a Big ten or NCAA title since 1982.

Patrick is the same dude that wrote an entire column about his visit to the hospital for a check up and pleading with his doctor to keep him alive because this may be the year the Gophers make the Rose Bowl (must've been circa '03-'05).

Now he cares about the poor tennis players and their state of the art facility or the poor swimmers who have to share their pool with olympians that come there to train or the womens hockey players that had the first womens hockey arena in the country. Boo-hoo.

Glad to see 90% of the commentators on his article aren't buying into his crap and proving him wrong. He is really losing his edge

When the football or basketball teams are down he is the first guy to ridicule the U for it. How many times has he praised Wisconsin's athletic teams? They focus largely on football and basketball. Now that Minnesota is finally trying to build a strong athletic program by starting with the revenue sports he ridicules that too. The football team may not entirely pay for itself when the stadium and facilities are factored in, but that doesn't change the fact that a strong football program brings in millions more than a weak one, millions that do help support other sports, men's and women's, whether he sees it or not.

If Pat wants more equality, then how about he write about the women's golf team or the women's rowing team a few times a week? Because the STrib won't get clicks and without clicks, he doesn't have a job. So similar to the U, the Star Tribune and Pat put resources that drive revenue. He's just too hypocritical to admit it.

Go Gophers!!

All quite true, but he did take a run at female sports a while ago.

His infamous "tippy-toe ball throwing" column on Girl's/Women's Basketball probably led to the kibosh on him writing anything about Women's sports for a long, long time.

His response to a question about what column sparked the most outrage

Two, March 2, 1991. A collection of smart-aleck notes for a Saturday that included the ridicule of girls/women’s basketball and the timeless phrase “tip-toed ball throwing.’’ Hundreds of letters; demands for my firing; editorial page rebuttals (including a long piece by (Girl's)basketball dad, Don Shelby). Wound up writing a lukewarm apology a month later, after an earlier attempt at apology was rejected as being “too flippant.’’ Only column I’ve ever had rejected in total in 34 years of writing them on a regular basis.

Just because you loooooove the football and basketball programs doesn't mean that these aren't realistic points:

-That is a LOT of money going to a largely unproven coach who hasn't even taken his team to the tournament.
-That is a realistic but perhaps pushing it amount of money to a coach who has done some very good things but still hasn't won a bowl or beat Wisconsin.
-The athletic department is absolutely Scrooge McDuck swimming in cash when proportionately compared to almost any other point in their existence, largely due to television cash, and the majority of it is being doubled down into football and basketball.

Even if he pushes the envelope a little too far for me sometimes, I always trust Pat's instincts.
