per the St. Cloud Times:

It was an opportunity Josh Parks couldn’t pass up.

After spending last season redshirting as a preferred walk-on at the University of Minnesota, the former Chisago Lakes running back was ready for a change.

And that’s led him to Collegeville, where he will be on the field when St. John’s University begins practice for the 2015 season at 3 p.m. Sunday at Clemens Stadium.

“At the end of the year, (Gophers) Coach (Jerry) Kill and I had a conversation about what the best decision was for me,” said Parks, who set a school record with 2,809 yards rushing during his prep career.

“And we both decided that if I could find a different path I wanted to take, that might be the best choice for all of us.”

Go Gophers!!

Welcome! Sam Sura is SR this year and will have big shoes to be fill.

With the depth of talent the Gophers have at RB, it's not surprising that a walk-on would look elsewhere to find playing time. Best of luck Josh.

The article doesn't mention it but I'm pretty sure Parks got moved to the secondary during his redshirt year. That may have had an influence on his decision to transfer.
