per Sid:

One result of the so-called resignation of Gophers athletic director Norwood Teague because of sexual harassment is the move pretty much assures that Jerry Kill will be around coaching Gophers football for a long time.

While there is no doubt that athletic directors and football coaches have their disagreements at most every school, the relationship between Kill and Teague was strained. They sometimes went long periods of time, even weeks, without communicating.

One example is that Kill knew nothing about a strong opponent in TCU being scheduled on a home-and-home basis rather than one of the North Dakota or South Dakota schools before it was announced. There also was the situation of Kill’s contract extension, something that was agreed on some time ago and then withheld for some reason.

Go Gophers!!

If it wasn't signed then it wasn't "agreed upon."

I'll never understand how sports reporters can possibly report so falsely.
If a contract isn't signed, it isn't agreed upon. It is the definition of contract.

I hope Sid is right and wouldn't be surprised that Kill did not care for Teague. Hopefully, we find a Kill-like AD.

Really? So the ghost writer of this article wants us to believe longtime friends Kill and Patterson had nothing to do with scheduling of the series? Give me a break, I'm not buying this column.

Sid is old but Its true. Kill knew nothing about TCU games until the press conference when they were announced

Not necessarily.

Of course the two sides could agree on something before signing it. Two parties would not sign something UNLESS they agreed on it.

Kill said the same thing in a recent interview. I understand doubting Sid, I'd like to believe what Jerry says.

The more I'm reading and hearing about the Teague era, I'm beginning to think that this could actually be a positive to move on to a new athletic director. I wonder if there are potential donors (not just Denny Sanford) that were turned off by Teague and may get involved now.

Sid is really smearing Teague on the radio. I like Sid but this is reckless.

Dave: I have some names that are mentioned for new AD we can talk about when we come back.
Sid: Dan O'brien should get the job and I don't want to talk about any other names.

+1
I have been thinking the same thing. Maybe Teague has been squeezing potential donors in more ways than one. I think Kaler needs to take responsibility for a real poor hire and must use new criteria this time. I have been very disappointed that the fund raising seemed to stall at 70 mil. Unlike Phatt Pat, I'm glad the new AD will have to answer to Kill. Everything in the future depends on Kill's success.

wow........dave and sid is like listening to amateur hour these days. dave tries his best, but i don't understand how he can stand having to continuously correct and fill in for sid's random musings and odd tangents.

Both sides agreeing there should be a contract extension is far from both sides agreeing to a contract extension.

They did have an agreement in principle. Which is very different than to say "they had agreed to a contract extension"

This new hire needs to take some input from the big donors.

That's a secondary part of being an AD. Her/His first priority is to make sure that there is a clearly defined means of assessing each athletic team and a clear protocol of communication between the department, the coaches and the athletes. Donors will respond positively to well organized vision in a leader. Big donors are not the leaders, they are the supporters of a leader. We need an AD who is incredibly organized and visionary.

Do you often sign a contract and then get to the terms to see if you agree?

No, Nor do I agree to a contract before any of the details have been decided.

You literally just made my point for me, thanks.

If they were still negotiating details then they hadn't agreed to an extension.

I really don't know how any one listens to Sid anymore. Not only can you not understand him, he's going to throw anyone under the bus who doesn't develop a relationship with him.

BTW, Pitino's "new" contract that Sid is reporting on doesn't exist either - same situation as Kill. So, the $2.1MM he's using is what Kill is making TODAY... the $1.6MM is NOT what Pitino is making today. Horrible, awful lies.

But anyway, on Teague.. that there were serious concerns and issues with Teague across various topics has been evident throughout his time at the U. It just took him leaving before wusses like Sid would talk about it. Sad, but lots of reporting is political and false.

Agreed Sup
The biggest mystery is how Starkey allows him to do commercials extolling their products when he can't hear. Mona has to repeat every question to him which doubles the show length. I realize he's way up there in age. So am I. But I'm not going to be running a 100 meter dash any time soon. How can this man continue to falter? He should realize it's time to hang up his hearing aids. I'm reminded of how sad it was to watch Willie Mays in his declining years.

On Reusse's show Saturday, He referred to Teague as a "man about town." Strong Implication that Teague liked the night-life. Reusse suggested that the U should take a closer look at Teague's expense reports to see if he was billing the U for his "lifestyle."

Gist was that other people knew Teague liked to drink and chase women - so Sid is not the only one coming out with this type of information.

You think that Sid wouldn't report it if he knew?

L8nitehopps loses more credibility.

hmm. Sounds like we didn't learn our lessons from brewster, who by all accounts, was a man about town.
