Go Gophers!!

Has anyone seen the new animated Sally? They turned her a little more risqué!

I prefer Stub and Herbs, especially now that Sally's really wont have an outdoor space

Me too. I was always a Sally's guy, but without the parking lot (or rain) I won't be there until November. BW3 has a lot of outdoor space and potential, but something about it feels pretty bland.

Go Gophers!!

Not to get negative here, but here goes: I looked at all the offerings by Team. They've got Steak, Hash, Hamburger, Pizza, Chicken Fried Steak and then we get to Minnesota (Sally's) with RAMEN NOODLES This is absolutely the last thing I would order for Gameday (besides Tofu). I want something that has substance and is more traditional. I don't care whether Ramen Noodles are chicken or steak flavored. Let's hope Blarney's, Big 10 or Stub & Herbs doesn't follow suit.

Here's the menu. There are other options:

My understanding was that Sally's is able to block the street for game days and have a large outdoor space. The bar is an inside/outside bar and you can go get drinks and be outside right now.

That's true. However, I walked past there on my way to a Viking game last year, and it was completely shaded. There were very few people there, and part of that is probably because nobody knew it was open or what was going on. But also because there was no sun in there on a beautiful October day. That will be great when it's 85 degrees, but not so much the rest of the season.

And, yes, they were trying to start a party in the street during Vikings games, but not on Saturdays when I walked by for the Gophers. I assumed it was the Sally's people running it; maybe it wasn't. But it was on the street Sally's will use.

The area in red is the road they are blocking off. Feels clausterphobic with big buildings shading basically an alley. Compare that to the Blue box just north of there which represents the area they roped off for Nebraska fans to pregame party in.

Sally's was closed from July 2013 until April 2015.

Probably wasn't the Sally's people, then, as I suggested could be the case. But someone had a band and beer on that same street trying to get people to party in the shade.

People need to get over this, maybe some Gopher fans should have paid the money to rent the space instead.

So you think a few Nebraska fans did this on their own and setup speakers, generators, food, liquor license, rented barriers to close it off, hired employees etc...? A business did this to make money. The same way the U of M could make it a business to gain revenue this same way AND improve fan experience.

Sally's, Stub and Herb's BW's print their own money on these pregame days, it's like a state fair spread out over 8 Saturdays.

The point is for the first time in a long time we have multiple games that don't start at 11am which make tailgating a much better proposition for a much longer period of time on Saturdays.

Of course a business or association rented the space, but a Gopher affiliated business of association could have just as easily rented the space instead.

I LOVED the rental space that the U had at the USC game in SoCal a few years back. Right in the middle of campus, huge blow up Goldy, speakers were set-up, food, liquor, rented barriers to close it off, hired employees, etc. Hundreds of Gophers fans having a great time, plenty of USC fans wishing us well and getting to know one another.

LakerFan, I encourage you to go on a road trip. This happens every where.

Go Gophers!!

I've been to Wisconsin, Nebraska, Northwestern. Looking to add Iowa to the list this year, I know that is a short list compared to many on this board, but that is why I rant on about this, I want the experience at the eight home games to be like some of the better experiences I've had on the road.

If I want a quick eat before or after a game, it's Cane's all the way. If I want table service, I'd have to think harder but Sally's is not #1

And the beer is more expensive

Big Ten or Stubs. Both are institutions.

Big 10, just for the food. Those subs never go out of style.

Oh gosh I miss those subs, I went there a minimum twice a week while at the U.

The only bad thing is they don't have the smokey cheddar option anymore. The subs are awesome.

AMEN. I used to eat BIG 10 subs 5 days a week. I still drag my kids there just about anytime we are on or near campus.

I just hope Big10 doesn't get displaced with new construction coming in. http://www.bizjournals.com/twinciti...er-leery-of-high-rise-plan-wants-to-stay.html

Why do people call Buffalo Wild Wings (Bdubs) BW3? What's the 3?

I believe that back in the day the franchisee owned restaurants were called BW3 and the corporate owned restaurants were Buffalo Wild Wings. I don't think there are many franchisee owned restaurants anymore though. There was a BW3 in Dinkytown in the early 90s

Probably for a 3 on a scale of zero to 10. Did the boneless wings at BWW last Fall and they were...... well,...... horrible. But they had Surly Furious on tap and that made it all worthwhile.

Me?

I will be trying to grab some space at the Surly Tap Room this Fall.
