per ESPN:

Michigan State did more than just weather Tropical Storm Urban, it enjoyed one of the most productive stretches in school history and even snatched away a conference title from Ohio State after he arrived.

But dealing with just Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes while Michigan was reeling and hobbling to the finish line with Brady Hoke is one thing. Dealing with a potential dynasty across the border and preparing for Hurricane Harbaugh within the state at the same time is another matter entirely, and trying to fight off both simultaneously is the biggest reason the Spartans might be in danger of slipping in the Future Power Rankings.

Go Gophers!!

Dantonio has built a solid program and he is now getting better recruits. The dynamic with Captain Comeback will be fascinating.

MSU and OSU are the story. And they are even. They both own Ann Arbor. That isn't going to change any time soon. The only true challenge in the East is from PSU. The School up north will be chasing 3rd or 4th the Division. This story is only hype.

Yep, the last time I checked, MSU had the #2 class in the country on Scout. When is the last time either Michigan or Penn State had a top 2 class?

I thought hoke had like the number 3 class maybe? but obviously that didnt turn out....

Hoke had an absurd number of players with three or more stars on the team that the Gophers curb stomped at the Big House last fall. I believe it was something like 30 or more.

Harbaugh has a top to bottom rebuild on his hands in AA.

Michigan was a mishmash of mismatched parts with no idea how to attempt to put them together. Harbaugh's biggest problem will be his OL he just doesn't have enough quality there. Michigan will be better but it'll be at least one and possibly two years before Harbaugh will have things right. He'll get a first year recruiting bump ,that often occurs with the excitement of a new coach, it's his year two recruiting that wil tell the tale on their ability to challenge MSU

not yer grampa's game

BIg Ten fears the Big Ten....on your way home look around and you'll see as many oregon 'O's on cars as anything else. The recruiting game is now national.

Urban Meyer eating sad pizza after losing to MSU in the B1G championship struck me as the definition of coach burnout. It's very possible Meyer retires again in a few years, maybe after a handful of national titles, but he's got that borderline mental illness aspect to coaching in him.

That striking snapshot of Meyer biting slowly and depressingly into a crappy stadium slice also struck me as proof that OSU can be beat by MSU, even with Meyer at the helm.

As for Harbaugh and Franklin, both have alot to prove in the B1G. Can the Harbaugh Stanford power running game work week after week against defenses that actually play against the run? We'll see.

And Franklin, I expect his sizzle to either put up or shutup soon.

MSU has positioned themselves to be the scrappy, tough, less shiny and pompous program in the east. That type of style appeals to alot of recruits, especially when you can beat the helmet schools that claim grand traditions and history.

Did you mean to type four or more stars?

There is nothing to indicate that Harbaugh is there for the long haul. He'll take the next Pro offer thown at him.

I will go one step further, his players will about had enough of his phony crap by the time the BIG schedule starts.
