Sam Dekker declares for the NBA

Good for him, get outta here while his stock is high.
If he were to return and the Badgers didnt go deep into the tourney again, I'd assume his stock would drop significantly.

Dekker - Dead!
Gasser - Dead!

Good for Dekker.

Typically, the Wisconsin senior comes back and leads them to ever new heights defying anyone who says even after losing much of their scoring they will suck next year.

This could be the year they actually suck next year.

We can only hope.

I didn't read all of the letter to the fans.

Did he mention anything about the refs?

Dorsey vs Koenig
Mason vs Showalter
Morris vs Hayes
King vs Brown
Konate vs Happ

Would Hayes really be their SF? He played PF most of the year. I'm really not to scared of them with this line-up and would assume that MSU, MD, IND(probably), Purdue(if Hammons stays), and one of OSU, Mich or Ill could all finish ahead of wisc. given that starting line-up... then again we say this every year don't we. I'm just happy that Dekker is going pro so we don't have to play against him another year.

Wisconsin next year

Wisconsin: SF is a question mark.

pg keonig 6-3 190 jr 13ppg
sg Showalter 6-2 195 jr ppg
sf Dearing 6-5 190 so? 4ppg
pf Hayes 6-7- 240 jr 15ppg
c V brown 6-8-240 jr 6ppg
bench:
illikainen 6-9 220 Fr 5ppg
Happ 6-8 210 so 3ppg
Pritzl 6-3 185 FR 4ppg

**I could easily see Koenig averaging 13pt, 2 r, 3 ass, 40%+ from 3.
Hayes 15p, 8 reb, 2ass, 40%+ from 3. Hayes 1st team B1G, Koenig 3rd T.
Offensively a big drop from this year but defensively close to last year.

Hayes will play a lot of SF next year because that is going to be his NBA position. Hayes and Koenig will be one of the better duos in the B1G next year. Happ supposedly has a ton of hype, but so did George Marshall.

Gas played decent defense on Hayes... I recall Hayes destroying King a when Hayes was a freshman... it was ugly.

This is true. Hayes is a matchup nightmare for King and is really the only guy that has absolutely destroyed King on a matchup standpoint. King effects our team rebounding, but I cannot recall many if any other single players that have dominated him the way Hayes has.

You forgot 6"3 Jordan Hill...very well may start over Showalter. Jordan can play either guard spot.

...is he? Could this defection be an indicator of bigger and brighter declarations from Madison???

You bet, Bo will be declaring for the draft. The refs better start quaking in their little boots now.

Who's the last WI basketball player to declare early for the draft?

Good news for Alex Illikainen?

Like a lot of undersized pf's, Hayes wants to show he can play sf. He can hit from outside and handle a little bit and shows versatile offense that Ryan is famous for. But he cannot guard any quick sf's. He will be guarding the opposing pf most games. In the NBA, he will be an undersized PF like Chuck Hayes, Dr. Green, Craig Smith, etc.
