***OFFICIAL GOPHERS VS badgers GAME THREAD!!!!!!!!***

Glad I wasn't able to go to the game. This season just needs to be over.

Liked the move by Pitino to put Mason back in the starting lineup and thought him and Morris were two of our better players today. I had forgot how annoying Dakich was to listen to especially with his hatred for the Gophers. There is always going to be home cooking when you play at Wisconsin but it was really bad today and it seemed like they had something against King from the start with all the weak calls he was hit wit . The 3 straight unforced turnovers to start the 2nd half and the 2nd chance points Wisconsin was able to get in the 1st half were huge in allowing them to pull away a little bit.

This loss was officially the dagger in my opinion.

Yes, the NCAA tournament was out of the picture a month ago, but this was the elimination game I think.

I think we can beat them at home if they don't give Bo so many more possessions on offensive no calls.

Good effort today- this type of game would have been good enough to beat NW or Penn State- but not Wisconsin.

Agreed. Might have been good enough to beat Michigan or Iowa at home too.

I'm not sure how soon we find out who announces game, but I am putting in my request that the student section bring posters of Blake after his shot against Dakich every time he's at the barn.

Took a nap and set my alarm for 1:00 pm.

I knew I could get the gist of the game here.:cool02:

Thanks

Ladys down 6 at half. Michigan looks better than their record.

I was out this morning and had to record the game. Just watched it.

1. Tough to win when Hollins doesn't do much. Been the story of his career: inconsistency. As someone else mentioned, it's been rare this year where our seniors all play well at the same time.
2. Kaminsky is the reason Wisconsin has gone from a good to great team the past two years. Hayes is a solid player, but I don't think he will be as good as Frank.
3. Wisconsin's student section isn't very smart (not an earth shattering observation by any means). There were two times they shouted airball when it was obvious the shots were blocked.
4. That place was extremely quiet. The loudest it got was when Bo was complaining about a call.
5. The young big men are very raw but are athletic. I'm cautiously optimistic one or both of them can develop into solid players.

Overall it wasn't a great performance, but a lot better than against NW.

Well they weren't embarrassed. Watching Xavier, I just wonder if JP Macura, or Reid Travis at Stanford would have been Gophers.. how this team would look right now. IF - IF - I know, but losing all of the good to great recruits last year hurts. Hopefully with Jarvis Johnson coming next year - the losing of the best instate players will come to an end. This program needs a major break.

Given that he could be player of the year, then, yes, he is the single biggest reason. But Wisconsin is a program with a great coach, a very efficient offense, and one with teams that almost never beat themselves. Add to that a very experienced lineup with two first round draft choices this year, a possible first round draft choice within the next two years (Hayes), and a highly rated soph guard and that mix has a good chance of being a great team. They'll still be good next year but not this good.

Why would you want instate players who don't want to come here? Would you also want a wife or girlfriend who feels she's settling by being with you?

If some Minnesota kid is good enough to go to one of the top programs, he's not going to come here. It's not the seventies anymore. College basketball recruiting is a national (and even international) business these days. Good players, like good business, are where you find them. We had three starters, and arguable our best players from last year's team, from the state of Tennessee. The difference between them and Reid Travis is that they wanted to come here.

Which is why he said IF... If they wanted to come here, how would we be looking right now. Obviously they didn't want to come here, so they aren't.

Then why bring it up for discussion when there is nothing to discuss?

It all ends up being "Idiot Wind".

I wasn't discussing it, just clarifying. I don't know. It's not like fans never think about "what ifs"

Did you tell Noah it was raining?

Once again you missed the point.

Have at it boys .. just wondering what the team would be like with a Macura or a Travis. Or what the hell - a Josh Martin that can play.

This is exactly why they have as good of a chance as anyone to beat Kentucky. They are not going to beat themselves. If they make shots, they could do it.

The point of his post was that he's another pedestrian sap pining away for things he can't have. If there was another point, that one was irrelevant to me and that's a point you seemed to have missed.

So you're saying everyone should wear the same set of blinders you wear?

No. People are free to be as foolish as they want and I'm free to verbalize my unwillingness to suffer them.
