This morning I got a call from Gopher Athletics regarding my opinions on the fan experience in 2014. They asked if there was anything they could do to improve the fan experience and if I was overall happy with the direction of Gopher Football.

Since this was sprung on me, I didn't have much to say...just saying I was generally happy. They then asked about my interest in renewing next year. "Of course", I told them. I then asked about seat licensing and they told me what I'd be paying - then went in to a long shpeal about paying in installments.

To be honest; I'll be renewing no matter what the seat licensing is...basically, I'm all in.

Has anyone else received a call?
 

I just got off the phone with the ticket office from this same call. Overall it was a great call and I was able to get a lot of my questions answered along with giving my opinions. Here is a recap of what I said/what was told to me:
Positives:
Love the Lion King video board skit
Love the vendors in the open endzone
Negatives:
Hate morning games (replied with this years home schedule is shaping up to not have many morning games if any)
More light beer selection
Get rid of the bleachers (they will not be keeping the bleachers after the Vikings leave)

Had a great conversation about the ticket increase. I expressed concern that the increase in price will drive fans away and make it more of a corporate feel, which would decrease the college atmosphere.
He mentioned that people are trying to get into the good seats and will pay money for that chance. People who don't want to pay should get into the ticket renewal process and select seats in a more affordable zone. He mentioned the payment plans and the reasons why the cost for putting an athlete through school was higher here than Wisconsin. He said they would rather have the students here playing in games than in Wisconsin sitting on the bench and to do that they need to take care of the kids. He mentioned that they are taking 2 sections out of the student section lower bowl to add more fan options and push the students together and up. In theory this will make for a fuller stadium.
I asked why Homecoming was a non-con game and he said it was because the conference schedule is so strong they wanted homecoming to be a game we could dominate and to get more people in the stands.
I asked him what else he has been hearing and he said a lot of the same, and surprisingly no one is really talking about WiFi. I told him if the team is good and the atmosphere is fun, no one will need to be on their dang phones.
He also mentioned that they do patrol Gopherhole and read suggestions/criticism and that they are calling all STH in the affected areas of the ticket increase.
 

Unfortunately, I'm one of those that just got priced out of season tickets. I used to be in 208 (chairbacks). When I emailed about this, they told me to move to the bleachers. No thanks. I'll just buy tickets off stubhub for a few games and watch the rest on TV. I'm also going to make an effort to do at least one road trip each season.
 

I'm definitely interested in talking with the Gopher Athletics Dept, if and when I get my call (presumably I will, as I now have to pay a seat licensing fee in my section for 2015). If only to share my opinions and concerns.

I'm fearful (perhaps unreasonably so) that season tix renewals will be way down because of Word's exact situation.

we are out as well. we'll hit the streets some games to buy tickets for under face. it will be nice to save a few bucks and sit in different spots around the stadium.

Question/speculation: if Gopher Hole regulars - presumably among the most involved/rabid fans- are dumping season tix, what does that mean for less involved/casual fans? I would not be shocked to see season ticket base go down by 5-10% over next 3 years as increases set in - unless there are a lot of fat cats/corporate types out there waiting to snatch up newly-available tix.

I would expect there to the current season ticket base to drop by 10-20%.

The only calls I get are from my cable company (sometimes 3 x per day) trying to get me to pay more for things I get cheaper elsewhere. I know there number by sight.

Sigh......do you think it's even realistic to think we will ever see TCF expanded to 70,000 seats in our lifetime? The only way I ever think that would happen is if the Vikings left town and that ain't happening now with their new stadium.

But if they did, just think of the stadium the Gophers would have!

Winning cures all ills. If the Gophers were legit contenders for a National Title, do you think there would be any problem selling 70k tickets?
