Hey guys, I've mostly heard about Cobb, Williams (a little about Liedner) and the Gopher offense, rather than their defense. But I was wondering, how is the defense and especially your cornerbacks? Lets say Mauk starts to sling it far downfield, what how good are the guys covering Sasser and White for example?

The corners are good, really good. You might torch them once, but it probably won't happen after that. The DC is great at erasing mistakes.

Sounds like a great matchup with our receivers.....Well, that would be true if our QB wasn't so sketchy. Thanks for the reply.

Our top two corners are Eric Murray and Briean Boddy-Calhoun. Boddy-Calhoun was first team all big ten for the media and second team all big ten for the coaches. Murray was second team for the coaches. Boddy-Calhoun is the playmaker, he caused some huge turnovers throughout the season and led the team with 4 picks. At one point this season Murray was Mel Kiper's #4 rated CB but I'm not sure if that is still the case. He's probably what you would consider our "shut down" CB in that I think our DC trusts him the most to play man coverage on an island. He has good size, hence the higher pro potential, and I expect he'll get plenty of opportunities to man up Bud Sasser. I think that's a good matchup for him.

There's a drop off after our top two guys but our depth is still solid. A good argument could be made that CB is the best position on our team. Good luck today Zoufan, here's to an injury-free game!

Our defense held the high flying TCU offense to it's lowest score of the season.

The CB/WR matchup will be key. The Gophers don't shy away from blitzes, etc. which leave our corners with no help. The secondary was the strength of our defense, with a few notable lapses.

You will notice that our corners use a technique of not looking back much for the ball. They usually try to just stick to the guy they are covering and basically face guard him. It usually works well, but sometimes they miss opportunities to intercept passes which causes some consternation among us fans.

Murray is a third rounder in Mcshay's most recent mock.

Not to mention pass interference calls.

d looks great so far today

It's unbelievable how they have pissed this game down their leg. Never seen anything like it.

Mentally weak.

Not good at this iPhone thing. Meant for the game thread. The defense has done the opposite.
