The Badgers Battle to Get into the Big Ten Title Game

That the Badgers from Wisconsin are a force to reckon with when it comes to football is a guarantee. But be that as it may, they still didn’t have the best start to the season. When they lost two conference games earlier in the season, their chances of getting into the big ten title game were slim to none. The losses to Michigan and Ohio State were in deed huge setbacks for the team, but it has gloriously resurfaced and is actually competing very favorably for a chance to play in the Big Ten Title Game. The Badgers Performance in the season

After their shaky start to the season, it seemed unlikely that things would improve for the team. The week after their two losses, they were anticipating two matches against the states of Nebraska and Iowa. The two other teams are some of the best, hence the general notion that the Badgers stood no chance against them. To make matters worse, the Badgers had just acquired a new quarterback, Alex Hornibrook, who is a freshman. Clearly, the odds were not in favor of this Wisconsin team.

But the team has proven that they do not need the odds to be in their favor in order to win games. They have won five games in a row, which says something about their expertise. In fact, the team has been ranked fifth nationally, 9-2 overall, and 6-2 in the Big ten west. Currently, they are a breath away from qualifying for the Big Ten Title Game. They need to win just one game and their place in the title will be firmly secured.

If Iowa beats Nebraska in their Friday game, Wisconsin is guaranteed of playing in the title, regardless of the outcome of their Saturday game against Minnesota. Even if Minnesota beats Wisconsin on Saturday, the Badgers can still play in the title as there will be a 4 way tie between the four teams.

The Element of Competition

One would think that given the near- guarantee that the Badgers have of playing in the Big Ten Title, they would be a little bit relaxed. But nothing could be further from the truth. According to the team’s linebacker, Vince Biegel, the team is more determined than ever to beat the Minnesota team on Saturday. Keep in mind that the Badgers beat the Minnesota Golden Gophers in twelve games. But they cannot underestimate Minnesota, which is just as hungry for a win as the Wisconsin team.

Key Players

Alex Hornibrook

The Badger’s quarterback is one of the finest players that the team has. He completed 100 of 171 passes, threw seven interceptions and had 8 touchdowns to top it all. His however needs to steer clear of turnovers and keep his emotions under control during the big game. If he does that, he will without doubt lead his team to a glorious win.

Corey Clement

He is the team’s RB, and a remarkable one for that matter. His most outstanding achievement is the fact that in one season, he managed a total of 1040 yards. Reaching 1000 yards is a great achievement on its own, let alone exceeding it- he is the 17th player in school to manage that feat.

T. J Watt

He is the LB for the team, and tied for second in the Big Ten with 8 sacks. He performs well in the big games, just like his brother.
