Over the course of the college football season, the GopherHole.com writers will be engaging in an intense battle to see who is the most intelligent (or luckiest) football fan of the bunch. Each week we will give our predictions for each Big Ten game along with a few national games. To make things more interesting, a special guest will make his/her predictions each week as well, along with a member of
The Hole. We’ll be charting the results all season and come January we will know without a doubt who the smartest (or luckiest) person is.
Our celebrity picker this week was a staple around the Minnesota sports scene for years and has recently been promoted to co-anchor on Channel 5, KSTP. Joe Schmit has been with KSTP for more than 20 years and recently made the transition from lead sports anchor to co-news anchor. A native of Seymour, Wisconsin and a University of Wisconsin-La Crosse grad, Schmit worked in news in Cedar Rapids, Green Bay and La Crosse prior to making a permanent home in the Twin Cities. Schmit says “the best thing about leaving sports, other than spending more time with my family, is now I can go to the games as a fan. Go Gophers.”
