Sports Betting Markets – The Top 10 of 2019

No matter the sport that you like, there has and will always be a sports betting industry surrounding it. Humans, for millennia, have placed wagers on games, dating further back than the Incans who traded animals at their slightly more brutal sporting events.

Today we’re going to be discussing the biggest sports betting markets out there right now.

Basketball

Basketball has been a hugely popular game for a very long time, and the same applies to its sports betting counterpart. For many people, you can’t grow up without having a favorite basketball team or a favorite player.

European games make up a lot of the market, but due to the recent deregulation of gambling in the USA, betting on the NBA (National Basketball Association) has been growing substantially.

Back in 2017 a report stated an estimate for sports betting on basketball to be around 1.48 billion United States Dollars.

Table Tennis

A slightly lesser known professional game in the Western Market, Table Tennis has seen an increase in popularity over the last few years.

Although most of the professional tournaments take place in South East Asia (China, Japan etc.) there has been a large increase in sports betting all over the world when it comes to the Table Tennis Market.

Soccer

The massively popular sport, Soccer, is played all over the world. Some say it’s the sport that breaks borders and brings people of every culture and nationality together. And that seems to be true for the most part.

With huge events like the infamous FIFA World Cup and the yearly FA Cup, sports betting on Soccer always seems to be increasing. One of the largest markets when it comes to sports betting, played all over the world but most famously in the UK, France, Germany and Italy.

American Football

American Football is quickly becoming popular all over the world. Just a few years ago, most people in Europe would have no idea what this game was, and now we’re seeing NFL games hosted in London and all over the world, filling out stadiums with loyal, international fans.

The most famous league of this sport is, of course, the NFL (National Football League). Recognised globally as the top tier of American Football, surrounded by hundreds of millions in revenue. That’s very much the same when it comes to sports betting, with the market internationally growing exponentially.

Tennis

Tennis is very much another internationally recognized game. A fantastic all round spectator sport that continues year round, every year, leaving fans being able to place wagers on who will win the tournament.

A tough sport to compete in, Tennis, sees many players come and go. So there’s always variety for who someone might support. Some of the largest spectator sports in the world don’t even come close to drawing in the numbers that Tennis does, especially when hosting Wimbledon, the hugely popular “world cup” of Tennis.
