When you’re a team riding a four-game losing streak and struggling for confidence, taking on a team that’s undefeated isn’t exactly what the doctor ordered. While Clemson’s 7-0 start has come against pretty easy competition, it still has to have them feeling pretty good as they come into The Barn Wednesday night.
Here are my Gopher Keys of the Game:
1. Confidence. This is definitely the big key after Minnesota’s struggles last week, and it won’t be easy.
2. Get a Lead. It’s a lot easier to be confident playing from ahead than from behind, and that’s something the Gophers rarely experienced in Orlando. Getting off to a good start will be very important this time.
3. Hold (and Build) a Lead. But even if the Gophers have a lead for much of the game, there will still be flashbacks of the late collapse against Iowa State. If the Gophers are able to get out in front, they need to continue doing what got them there rather than getting tight and conservative.
I think it’s hard for any Gopher fan to have a good feeling heading into this game. I’m no different. Clemson isn’t UNC, but they’re not bad, so this one will be tough. My prediction: Clemson 70 Minnesota 59.
