The University of Minnesota men’s track team won its second consecutive Big Ten indoor championship and third straight Big Ten championship overall last weekend at the University Fieldhouse. When asked to sum up the weekend, Coach Plasencia said, “œThere was a great energy in the drafty old fieldhouse this weekend. It was the most fun I have ever had at that facility. Time after time our guys met or exceeded reasonable expectations of what they could do. I hope to bottle that feeling.”

The women’s track team was unable to win their 4th consecutive title as they placed fourth with 82 points at the Big Ten Indoor Championships held at Penn State. Host Penn state won the event with 111 points, Ohio State came in second (88 pts), and Indiana (83 pts) placed third. Senior Alicia Rue won her third straight indoor pole vault title to lead the Gophers.
