Gophers Over Nebraska 84-67

The Gophers take down Nebraska(16-9) to win their seventh straight game and improve to 19-6, and 10-4 in Big Ten play. Gophers again display their top ten ranked defense as they hold Nebraska to just 30 points on nine made baskets in the first half while forcing 11 turnovers and pouncing out to a 19 point lead. Mara Braun played all but 56 seconds in the first half and finished the half with 13 points after dropping 10 in the first quarter. Amaya Battle joined Braun with thirteen points and the duo combined for +35 in plus minus. 

The third quarter saw Nebraska surge back into the game capitalizing off a dismal quarter by the Gophers in which they made just 3 of their 11 attempts, while turning the ball over seven times. Nebraska capitalized off the Gophers offensive woes hitting 4/8 from three and 9/17 from the floor. When asked after the game Mara Braun, laughed stating “That wasn’t us, that was AI”

Whether it was AI or real, the Gophers quickly clicked back into their winning ways, out shooting Nebraska 24-15 in the final frame, shooting 9/14 from the floor and holding Nebraska to just 6/15. With the victory it marks the seventh straight win for the Gophers and sets them up nicely for potentially jumping into the top 25 AP rankings next week. With their next game taking place on Sunday, Feb 15th in Wisconsin, being a rematch from the January 25th game in which the Gophers routed the Badgers 88-53.
