The Gophers received a commitment from Southlake, Texas wide receiver Brady Boyd. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound pass catcher is a three-star prospect in the 2021 class, according to 24/7 Sports. He chose Minnesota over offers from Texas Tech, North Texas, Tulsa, Utah, Boise State, Oklahoma State and others. Boyd posted an excellent 4.44 40-yard dash and 4.22 shuttle, per The Opening Regional’s data. He also tallied a 34-inch vertical, but is clearly above average in the speed metrics.
When I fired up Boyd’s tape, I was impressed with his explosiveness and ability to get separation over the top. Within the highlights below, you’ll see a few plays where he adjusted and made difficult grabs outside of his frame. Boyd’s ball tracking is something that really stands out in his cuts.
