As it sits today the Gophers have two open scholarships. Their clear needs are a veteran PG, and you can never have enough shooting.
Projected Depth Chart:
- G: Ta’Lon Cooper/Abdoulaye Thiam
- G: Braeden Carrington/Jaden Henley
- F: Jamison Battle/Isaiah Ihnen/Joshua Ola-Joseph
- PF: Parker Fox/Treyton Thompson
- F/C: Dawson Garcia/Pharrel Payne

Potential Transfer Targets:
Minnesota Guys:
- *Josiah Strong, G, Illinois State/Navy (Champlain Park)
Strong was the third guy on Champlain Park teams with McKinley Wright and Theo John. Last season he averaged 11.5 PPG, 3.3 RPG and 2.2 APG with Illinois State after previous stops at Iowa Western CC and Navy. He would fit right into Minnesota’s backcourt.

Chance of signing: 85%
-
- *Michael Jones, F, Davidson (Woodbury)
Jones was a three-year player for Davidson and would have two seasons of eligibility with the Gophers. In 2021-22 he averaged 11.8 points and 3.6 rebounds while shooting 42.1% from beyond the arc as one of the most lethal three-point shooters in the country.

-
Chance of signing: 75%
-
- Sy Chatman, F, Illinois State/Umass (Cretin-Derham Hall)
At 6-foot-8 Chatman averaged 13.5 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks last season for the Redbirds. If the Gophers do in-fact land Dawson Garcia, their frontcourt might be a bit crowded, but you can never have enough talent.
-
-
Chance of signing: 30%
-
- Ben Carlson, F, Wisconsin (East Ridge)
Carlson, a former 4-star recruit coming out of East Ridge could never find his footing with the Badgers. After averaging less than three points in both of his first two seasons in Madison, he could be a huge addition to the Gophers’ frontcourt.
-
-
Chance of signing: 30%
-
Players they’ve officially reached out to:
- *JaCobi Woods, G, Belmont
6-foot-2 guard averaged 6.3 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists on a 25-win Bruins team last season. Woods would provide solid depth for the Gophers’ depth chart.
-
-
Chance of signing: 25%
-
- *Jamell Horton, G, Albany
At 6-foot-4, Horton averaged 12.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists last season for the Great Danes. He is also hearing from Iona, VCU and UMass, so the Gophers should have a realistic shot to land him

-
Chance of signing: 25%
-
- *Cameron Parker, G, Montana/Sacred Heart
Parker averaged 9.1 PPG, 4.5 APG, and 3 RPG last season for Montana. He had an NCAA record of 24 assists in a game for the Grizzlies. He is currently hearing from UCF, Loyola Marymount, and the College of Charleston. He is a very realistic target for the Gophers.
