No. 5 ranked Volleyball starts season 2-0
One of the most successful athletic programs at the University of Minnesota kicked off its season last week, as the volleyball team took down No. 16 Baylor 3-1 and TCU 3-0 on a two-game road trip to win the Big Ten/Big 12 challenge. They will now travel to Austin, Texas to take on the Longhorns Wed. the 31st, and play their home opener on Sept. 4 against Florida.

UNC transfer Dawson Garcia immediately eligible
Gophers basketball’s biggest addition of the offseason, Dawson Garcia was granted immediate eligibility by the NCAA Friday. After starting at Marquette and then transferring from North Carolina in the offseason, the Prior Lake, Minnesota native needed the NCAA’s clearance to play this season. As a former McDonald’s All-American Garcia has averaged 11.5 PPG in his college career. He will have three seasons to play for the Maroon & Gold.
Hey Dawson, you ready to play? 😏

Jerry Kill, “doesn’t know” if he will shake PJ Fleck’s hand
Former Gophers head football coach, Jerry Kill returns to campus Thursday, but this time he is leading New Mexico State. Kill said that he “doesn’t know” if he will shake PJ Fleck’s hand, but the current Gophers head coach responded by saying that he has never not shaken an opposing head coaches hand.
If there's a feud between #Gophers coach P.J. Fleck and Jerry Kill, it's largely a one-sided affair — at least when it comes to public comments. More from @RJstrib https://t.co/un9Kv7HLwM

Former QB Chris Streveler dominates preseason
Former Gophers QB/WR Chris Streveler dominated for the New York Jets as he fights for a roster spot. After transferring away from Minnesota after two seasons, he has been in the NFL since 2020 and he made quite the argument that he deserves to remain in the league.
#Jets QB Chris Streveler in the preseason:
Game 1: 6/9, 62 yards, 2 TDs –including game-winner with 16 seconds left.
Game 2: 8/11. 119 yards, 1 TD — came in when Jets were down 16-3 and won the game.
Game 3: 10/13, 96 yards, 2 TDs – including game-winner with 22 seconds left. pic.twitter.com/xbNovBWvqx

Black football uniforms
The Gophers teased some new uniforms last week with black pants/jerseys and white helmets. They were originally rumored to debut in week one, but we will not have to wait for a different game… maybe the White Out against Penn State?
