Gopher Basketball
Despite missing its two top scorers, 22 free throws and suffering a heartbreaking last second buzzer shot in regulation, the Minnesota Gophers beat Arizona State 85-79 in OT. The win is an important road game for the Gophers against a Pac-10 team and more importantly, the emergence of Dan Coleman and the confidence of Jamal Abu-Shamala may pay dividends as the season progresses.
Despite shooting 27/49 from the free throw line, the Gophers were led by Adam Boone (28 points), Coleman (23 points), Abu Shamala (14 points and 3/3 from three point land) and J’Son Stamper added eight points and 10 rebounds.
It wasn’t pretty, but it was a win and an important one at that. The Gophers will take on UNLV on Saturday at The Barn.
Sorry for the short recap, but its 12:12am and my alarm clock is unfortunately going off in a few hours.
