Gophers Fall in 1st Round of Big 10 Tourney

Gopher Basketball

On the bright side, the Gopher defense held Michigan to a frigid 27% shooting from the field and gave up just 49 points. On the not-so-bright side, the Gophers only scored 40 points themselves and lost 49-40. While some tournament magic would have been nice, I guess this was probably the more fitting end to a frustrating season that so Minnesota lose a school-worst 22 games (with just 9 victories). Now it’s time to sit back, listen to the rumors, and speculate on who will be coaching the Gophers next season.

Spencer Tollackson led the Gophers with 15 points on 6 for 11 shooting, although he grabbed just one rebound in his 33 minutes. Jamal Abu-Shamala knocked down a couple of three-pointers and finished with 8 points. Dan Coleman and Lawrence McKenzie struggled offensively and combined to score just 11 points on 3 for 17 shooting.

Here’s the box score.
