With the AAU season coming to a close and high school season not far away, the Minnesota Gophers are hot on the 2025 recruiting trail and official visits will start in the coming weeks as college classes are back in session and the football season starting.
With the 2025-26 class holding nine scholarships, the Gophers 2025 recruiting class has a lot of room to be shaped. Those interested in placing a risk-free bet for the Gophers’ future success should keep an eye on these in-state recruits:
- Chase Thompson
- Jalen Wilson
- Abu Keita
- Tyler Wagner
- CJ Armstrong
- Brady Wooley
Chase Thompson. The Minnesota Gophers do well in Alexandria and Thompson is a prime target. He has offers from Toledo, Nebraska, and West Virginia, though the Gophers will undoubtedly join the list. Starring for D1 Minnesota on the AAU circuit, he could join the Gophers 2025 class before all is said and done.
Jalen Wilson. Wilson is viewed as the best player in Minnesota and a focal point of the Gophers recruiting class. Wilson has offers from Bryant, UMKC, Northern Iowa, and Nebraska already. There is a significant Gopher connections as well given Wilson’s high school coach at BSM is former Gopher Damian Johnson.
Abu Keita. The 6’5” small forward currently plays for Benilde-St. Margaret’s. He is currently unranked by 247sports but is a 3-star at On3. One of the top players in the state, he doesn’t currently have an offer from the Gophers but could have one if he gets off to a hot start this season.
Tyler Wagner. A three-star recruit to 247Sports is another small forward with decent size (6’5”) and room to grow. He already has offers from North Dakota and Bryant. Playing for Totino-Grace, he doesn’t currently have an offer from the Gophers, but they have definitely been monitoring his progress. He’ll need a good start to make a push for an offer from the Gophers.
CJ Armstrong. Though he currently has but a single offer (St. Thomas), Armstrong remains on the radar of the Gophers. He has interest from Iowa State and Iowa as well, having taken an unofficial visit to the latter. The 6’3” shooting guard plays for Richfield, finishing 2023-24 with an impressive 32 points per game.
Brady Wooley. A 6’9” power forward from Orono Senior High, Wooley has been garnering quite a bit of interest. He has offers from Yale and North Dakota, with interest from Belmont, Iowa, and Iowa State. He is rated a 3-star prospect at 247Sports and can play point guard as well, impressive for his size.
Upshot for the Class. The Gophers recruiting class has time to take shape. Many of the top players in the state have some kind of connection to the program and the Gophers will no doubt be able to grab a few.
It will be interesting to see which players start well and who garners an offer from Minnesota before the season is up. With nine scholarships to hand out, the Gophers can take a flyer on someone and go for potential rather than having to adjust based on fit.
