Former University of Minnesota Golfer, Erik van Rooyen carded a top 30 finish this weekend at the Fortinet Championship. The Gopher alum shot a four round 281 and finished -7 par earning $42,532 and 19.33 Fedex Cup points.
Earning much needed FedexCup points comes at a critical time for the Gopher alum. Coming into the Fedex Fall Cup, van Rooyen ranked 131st in the Fedex Cup standings, but moved up to 126th after this weekend. van Rooyen, who earned exempt status through the 2022-2023 season with his 2021 victory at the Barricuda Championship, needs to finish in the top 125 to secure his PGA Tour card for the upcoming season.
The PGA and van Rooyen will be off the next 2 weeks with the Ryder Cup coming up, but will resume action on October 5 at the Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, MS.
