Brian Goblirsch leaves football program

Gopher Football

Brian Goblirsch, a redshirt sophomore offensive guard, has decided to leave the Gopher football program. Goblirsh is two semesters from graduating, and felt it was in his best interest to move on.

With Brandon Harston’s eligibility expiring after this past season, depth at offensive guard was already going to be a little bit of a concern heading into next year. But with the early departure of the 6’2″ 295 lb Goblirsch, both offensive guard spots will become one of the top priorities for the coaching staff this spring. Goblirsch was the backup to starter Mark Setterstrom last year, so assuming Mike Nicholson moves into the starting spot on the right, both of the backup spots for offensive guard will be up in the air heading into the spring.

Goblirsch is a graduate of Eagan high school and was a member of the Gophers 2002 recruiting class. He is a Business Marketing Education major.
