I was listening to the Taekcast podcast today with guest Zach Zenner, and he was talking about how his coach at SDSU moved the practice time on Thursdays so him and a few teammates could attend their afternoon organic chemistry class...and he contrasted this with the University of Minnesota. He had an unofficial visit and they gave him an "approved list of majors" for football players that fit with their football schedule. He said it ended up being a moot point because he was not offered, but it was a big turn-off.

For reference, he started college in the 2010-2011 school year (redshirt) so this would have been during Brewsters tenure.

Nothing earth shattering here, just a fun little nugget.

SDSU only had one option for time of an o-chem class? Must not be a big chem department.

No offense, but hardly relevant as it was 15 years ago. I could totally see Brew having that football first mentality...
True. And the moving of practice times for a couple players seems odd, because what if that created a bunch of problems for other players?

The more concerning thing would be the idea that there are only a few majors allowed, if in fact that was really true.

I agree and I dont think that mentality would fly today at most places with the open transferring, but I could see if 15 years ago, and especially Brew trying to build a football first program.
