per BadgerNation.com:

Kenosha Tremper lineman Zac Epping has been on Wisconsin's radar for quite some time, which was one of the main reasons UW wanted Epping to come up to its summer camp. Having already visited Madison and with a full camp schedule on his plate, Epping, who doesn't have a UW offer, decided to take a pass on UW.

MADISON - Having camps in East Lansing on Friday, another one in DeKalb on Sunday and an important one in Minneapolis this upcoming weekend, Kenosha Tremper lineman Zac Epping was not feeling motivated to come up to a one-day camp at Wisconsin earlier this week.
So Epping, a three-star prospect and the 35th-ranked defensive tackle in the nation by Scout.com, decided to stay home and rest up.

“I was going to, but I decided not to. I am still trying to decide if I am going to go next week,” Epping told Badger Nation. “I wanted to go to the one-day camp, but (my heart) wasn’t in it.”

With scholarship offers from Central Michigan, Minnesota, Northern Illinois and Western Michigan already on his plate, Epping has his three favorites in Northern Illinois, Minnesota and Central Michigan.

“I have a good relationship with the coaches from Minnesota and we’ve developed a good relationship through the process,” Epping (6-foot-3, 275 pounds) said. “I really like the campus, especially the new football stadium. Minnesota facilities are amazing. It meant a lot getting that early offer in the mail. It meant a lot that they ranked me so high.

“I like Northern Illinois because the coaches told me that I have a good chance to play early, maybe as soon as my first year," Epping said. "I really like that a lot. I also have a good relationship with the coaches there.” Already having visited UCLA, having competed in the U.S. Army National Combine in San Antonio and fresh off a season where he recorded 99 tackles, seven tackles for a loss and six sacks on defense, Epping has been hitting the camp circuit hard and more schools want to see the talented prospect, who has also been recruited as a guard or center on the offensive side of the ball.

“I got out to Michigan State last Friday and it was nice,” Epping said. “I had a good time out there and they had a lot of people there – over 200 people for their one-day camp. Buffalo wanted me to come to camp and watch me in person first before offering, but that’s really far away, and I don’t think I will go.”

Although Epping admitted that he wouldn’t mind getting an offer from Wisconsin, all indications that Epping feels that UW isn’t the best fit for him anymore.

“I like to get an offer from Wisconsin, but I don’t think I want to go there anymore,” he said. “They don’t rank as high on my list. I would like to make my decision before the season so it doesn’t get in the way of all the fun of my senior year. Right now, I want to play out of state and experience something different.”

Go Gophers!!

I would love it if he selected the maroon and gold, but the article reads like he is using the media to get the UW off the stick ala Konrad (whatever his name was).
Also, Madison papers (including paper sponsored blogs) quash any negative UW stories in fear of losing the UW rapport and this story appears suspect. Hmmmmmm.......

very true. i have noticed this practice as well in the madison paper. soviet style tactics perhaps! guess media act a bit different in a small college town like madison. they know that UW is the hand that feeds them and is what even makes there existence/jobs possible, so they often do quash any anti-UW or anti-badger stories lest they start to lose some "mystique" in the minds of the sconnie faithful.

right or wrong you will never see this little game played in the minneapolis or st. paul papers towards UM or the gophers.
