I like this, since is somewhat smooths out the differences in SOS. The defense has come a long way since Joe Rossi took over.

On offense, the Gophers are at +49.6 (they average 49.6 more yards on average, as compared their opponent’s average opponent), which ranks #40 in the country.

On defense, they rank #15 in the country at +98 (they give up 98 fewer yards per game, as compared to their opponent’s average opponent).

Their overall ranking (adding the offensive and defensive numbers) is 15th in the country.

The defensive starters have only given up one TD in the last 4 games. They’ve been lights out.

I suspect if he broke this down to only Big Ten teams in Big Ten games, the numbers would look even better.
