You have 200 minutes, how would you allocate the time this season?

I'd break it down like this, on average:

Austin: 35
Andre: 35
Dre: 30
EE: 22
Walker: 14
King: 22
Oto: 18
Smith: 11
Wally: 6
Mav: 5
McNeil/Buggs: 2 (total, assuming a few mop up minutes and many DNP's, averaging out to 2 minutes combined)
Total: 200

I think we'll have situations where both Wally and Mav play a big role in a nice win with Wally having the biggest upside of this group to increase beyond the predictions.

Andre Hollins: 35
Austin Hollins: 35
DeAndre Mathieu: 30
Eliason: 25
Oto: 20
King: 20
Walker 15
Smith 15
Mav 5
Buggs 0
McNeil redshirt
Ellenson super 0

Andre Hollins: 200
Everyone else: 0

You can't pre-determine minutes. Players earn minutes. If you tell me in October you determined I'm going to play 2 minutes in February...
why should I strive to get better every day in practice if you have your minutes all laid out for me...for the season. It's a ridiculous exercise.

Not to mention discipline issues, academic issues, injuries, matchups and seventy other variables.

you do realize this is a message board right? you know, where people like to discuss the season and make predictions? and if someone says Andre is going to play 35 minutes instead of 36 minutes, it has no barring on his ability to earn minutes? sheesh lighten up.

Andre Hollins: 35
Austin Hollins: 35
DeAndre Mathieu: 32
Eliason: 30
Oto: 10
King: 15
Walker 25
Smith 19
Mav -5 (let's take back minutes he played last year)
Buggs 0
McNeil redshirt
Ellenson 5

I thought McNeil saw the court already this season in the Montana Game. That means he will be unable to redshirt this year. referring to the 2 people who have him as a Redshirt. We may have wanted him to redshirt but I don't think he can unless the online stats are wrong and he never really entered the game.

You want Walker and Eliason on the court at the same time for 15+ minutes?

Yup, redshirt opportunity is gone for this year.

I think people are taking this hypothetical question far to literally. I think the OP was posing what would YOU do, not what Pitino should/can do going forward ...

I'd trust Pitino over myself since he's at every practice and game.

But ...

I'd clone Oto and have all 5 of them play the entire game.

During B1G play, yes. There are some match-ups we won't have a choice. Don't you think both of them have at least as much 'range' as Trevor?

Just like the Money Ball movie. We can't afford one player who will replace Giambi, but we can recreate him in the aggregate.

Shooting Range? Maybe. But I can't see those two being on the court at the same time while pressing or trying to run the floor.

We'll see, could be wrong, but I see those two splitting those 40 minutes for the most part.

How about five Eliasons on the floor at once. That would be awesome. And hilarious. And scary.

Austin 34, Andre 34, Mathieu 29, Eliason 22, Smith 18, King 16, Osinieks 13, Walker 12, Ellenson 8,Buggs 7, Ahanmisi 6, McNeil 2

I would only play Charles Buggs - for 38 minutes. He would so thoroughly dominate most teams with his solo game that he could sit out the last two minutes and the other team would never be able to put it in the hoop enough times in 2 minutes to catch up.

If I were to allocate how much time each person should play, it would take me WAY less than 200 minutes to do so.
