"You know it's been a great experience it's been a goal for basically my whole life, it just feels good to be up here and kind of living my dream you know try to help us get to the top of the Big Ten and be the best we can be," Fruechte told News 19 Sports during an interview Wednesday.

As one of the Gophers more experienced players, Fruechte has been a leader both on and off the field for Minnesota.

"I think the biggest thing with him is there is a maturity there with him, he is the veteran guy in that group, he's done a great job of mentoring those young kids which is a pretty unselfish thing because when your in that position like wide receiver every your not out there is an opportunity for a ball to be thrown your way," said offensive coordinator Matt Limegrover.

"I try to help everybody out no matter who it is but most definitely working with some of the young kids get them to take meetings more serious take notes or you name it," Fruechte said.

Go Gophers!!

I hope he has a big game tomorrow in Engel's absence.

I think Fruechte probably has a lot more talent than he's shown. He's dropped an awful lot of passes this season.

I agree with this. He made some really good catches last season. Not sure what it is about this year though.

On his drops, some of those were a little bit tougher catches to make on some less than average throws from Phillip, in his defense. But, still, if you want to get more targets, he should still make those catches.

Southeastern MN football pride!!! But in all seriousness I hope the kid can step up. Coaches son I think from a great High School program in Caledonia (which is about 10 miles from Wisconsin and Iowa). Hope to see homegrown talent step up like I know he wants to.

Nelson's roomie? Watching film at home? Sheesh! Two weeks to prepare for Wisc? Hmmm.
