Wow, Ted Roof moving again, now DC at Ga Tech; John Butler now DC at Penn St

was he fired from PSU? Don't see it in any of the reports or I am just stupid

Wonder if he is married or has a family. If he has a wife she must be a saint. It is hard to keep track of all the places he has been.

Wonder if he will still be at GT when they join the Big Ten. Report is he resigned to take GT job. Must have it on his bucket list to coach in every conference or even state.

He's already been the defensive coordinator at Georgia Tech, so this wouldn't check anything off any list.

I believe Roof is now on his 7th program in the past 6 seasons.

Butler was our special teams coordinator as recently as 2010 and is now DC at Penn State.

Go Gophers!!

It's weird because I have heard from someone who was on the team at the time that Roof was asked to leave MN and then landed at Auburn. When he landed at a high profile location they sold it as Roof left to pursue Auburn, but supposedly Roof and Brewster never got along and Brewster basically told him to find a position elsewhere or he'd get canned. Maybe the guy is a pain in the rear to head coaches? Sort of like a lot of the rumors around how difficult Mike Dunbar is to work with. Or is something going on behind the scenes (drugs, insubordination, cheating, leaving the seat up, etc.), otherwise why would a guy who's had some pretty good defenses at several locations be shuffling around like this?

Totally speculating here so no proof of anything but I've got to believe there are some former head coaches who can "overstep their boundaries" when they go back to being assistants.

This or the guy realized that his boss who couldn't even get a coordinator job before or after becoming head coach here was incompetent.

I heard/read similar rumors. Hard to know. All I can say is the life of a college football assistant coach is akin to the gypsy life.
