Comcast SportsNet Bulls analyst Kendall Gill has been suspended from his on-air duties after an altercation in the studio on Tuesday with Big Ten Network analyst Tim Doyle.

The incident took place after the “Sports Talk Live” show, where Doyle was a guest and spoke critically of Gill’s assessment of the controversial ending to the Bulls-Denver game on Monday.

Gill approached Doyle on his way out of the CSN studio and a fight broke out.

“We’re looking further into the incident that took place in our newsroom [last evening],” CSN Chicago news director Kevin Cross said in a statement. “Until the investigation is complete, Kendall Gill will not be appearing on our air.”

Gill played 15 years in the NBA—one season with the Bulls—after starring at Illinois. Doyle played for Northwestern from 2004 to 2007 before joining the Big Ten Network.

Go Gophers!!

I am imagining a Wes Mantooth v. Ron Burgundy type exchange before trading blows. Outstanding.

This happened in my office building, while I was here. AND I MISSED IT! Damn it.

Doyle is a pompous, arrogant little prick. I hope he got knocked out. He probably had it coming for a long time.

I would have given Gill a promotion and a bonus.

Wow, hard to believe they would start throwing punches. I don't condone getting into a physical altercation but I agree with some of the posters that Doyle is a smart ass and can easily get under someone's skin.

Kendalll was having flashbacks of the 2-4-6-8 Proposition 48 chants the Northwestern students use to chant at the Illini players.

I love drama like this! I haven't even seen the clip, but I'm guessing that Tim comes across as the en vogue contrarian which is commonplace in today's media.... you have to be 100% opposite the other guys take. I'm sure Gill, being a Chicago area legend couldn't tolerate the Northwestern dork taking him to task.... but man... you gotta have some restraint! Maybe Gill's got nothing to lose after a 15 year NBA career, but you gotta have more self restraint by not doing what most of us would want to do.... and that is... punch that walking penis in the face.

If I recall correctly, Gill briefly tried pro boxing when his NBA career ended. Didn't last but still, the guy was always a fitness nut, had some formal training and is much bigger than Doyle. This could not have gone will for Doyle.

That is a totally false video. It is actually station19 vs parski1.

I have thunder in my fists.

My buddy's wife went to IU and spent some time as a tutor when Gill was playing there. One time when Gill was leaving his session with her, he told her he was heading out on a date. She became curious about how he could afford the big date he described, and he answered; I don't know, when I showed up, they gave me an ATM card, and every time I show up, there's money in there.

This story is, in no way, cromulent to this issue, but I thought I would share.

Doyle has always been a jack off. I remember a few years ago when he was joking on air a little with Spencer and when Spencer said something about the gophers getting the better of northwestern in a particular game, Doyle came back with a condescending comment about Spencer only receiving a "State School" education........as compared to his schooling at Northwestern. He just came off as an arrogant jerk. Never liked him. Never want to see a fight, but if someone had to catch one in the chops, he can be that guy.

Would that make it boxing the clown?

Sorry, I crack myself up sometimes.

I don't know, I kinda like Tim Doyle and his goofy grin. Watching him makes me smile.

IIRC, Gill played with the wolves for a year or two during the KG era and was a pretty decent 10-15 minute a night rotation guy.

Well, If Fox ever brings back Celebrity Fights, then Doyle and Gill would be high profile celebs on that show.
