per CBS:

There are college football fans. There are devoted college football fans. There are diehard college football fans. And then, another few notches above that, there was Dick Coffee.

al.com and other outlets reported Friday that Coffee, a Crimson Tide superfan, died this week at the age of 91, bringing an end to a remarkable streak. Coffee had attended the last 781 Alabama games: home and road games including 51 straight Crimson Tide bowl games.

Coffee was in attendance at last January's BCS Championship Game to see Alabama thump Notre Dame, 56 seasons after the streak began at the Tide's 26-7 season-opening win over Furman in 1946 -- Coffee's freshman year at Alabama. Coffee also attended 65 consecutive Iron Bowls.
