That's what I thought too, haha. A little disappointed that isn't the case.

At first I thought it was going to be for the rest of the season or something. It's not a big deal in my opinion. You should see the different jerseys teams wear in minor league baseball. There are Star Wars and tuxedo style jerseys, to name a few.

Completely different situations. As detailed here the NCAA rules (appear to) allow what Akron is doing. They clearly do not allow what Iowa wanted to do.

Per Akron, they have now checked with the NCAA and been told 'no'. Hmmph.
