•Career record: 75-45 (37-34), all at same BCS school

•Is not just a BCS coach, but a BCS coach in your own conference

•Teams went to 8 bowl games in 10 seasons, winning 7 of them

•Comes from a school with substantially tougher academic standards

•Graduated 90% of his players

•Won consistently:

in a much colder climate

in a recruiting wasteland (you play in what is comparatively a very fertile recruiting ground)

with terrible fan support (team doesn't average 40,000 fans even while winning

I give up. Gary Barnett? NW isn't colder or a recruiting wasteland though.

Probably not. I've never really been a big Tom O'Brien guy.

That makes sense. I was obviously thinking Big 10. I don't think he'd leave NC State for MN anyway. We could probably get his predecessor at NC State though.

The main problem with your comparison is that the Big East is easier to win in than the Big 10, especially in the timeperiod he coached in. Still, valid points.

I'm lost on who you are talking about. MN is about as cold as it gets in the lower 48.

It's a bit of a recruiting wasteland as well.

I wouldn't mind seeing a coach like Randy Edsall from UCONN.

Kevin Sumlin from Houston intrigues me as a younger coach with good potential.

Chuck Amato isn't a terrible idea. The guy has head coaching experience (pretty decent overall job), he's enthusiastic and would be kind of like a "Tubby" type hire.

He is 64 years old and it looks like he uses geri curl. Two strikes against him
