Would Seantrel start as a freshmen at Ohio State or USC?

I know the answer for Minnesota. Assuming the scouts are right and he is a can't miss left tackle prospect he shouldn't care. I raise this because if he goes to Minnesota he will start at left tackle whether he earns it or not. There is always the chance at USC or OSU that he doesn't start his freshmen year and then gets lost in the mix when everyone is done trying to give up their first born to get him. Before you just reply he is a lock to start at USC or OSU prove that there isn't 4 or 5 star talent ahead of him. For the record I hope he wears maroon and gold as much as the next.

You assume that he wants to start more than caring about things like winning a national championship. Many kids don't mind redshirting. For OL/DL, its preferred so they can get stronger, and many of them don't really have an issue with that because it makes them better.

Ultimately no one knows what he values the most but he doesn't really seem to be a kid that has a big head, in the sense that his ego needs to be stroked by being a starter as a pure freshman.

I'm sure that he and his family have gone over the depth charts at each program many times.

Fair enough. I'm assuming he would want to start as many of the interviews with prospects discuss their interest in early playing time.

Looks like USC is loaded at OT, with several 4/5-star players who will be eligible in 2010:

Perhaps more opportunity at tOSU. Cordle is done after this year and his position may be open for competition. Tough to say, since they don't list the three-deep.

All in all, it's tough to say. I'd suspect he'd have a legit chance to start at one of the tackle positions regardless of where he commits.

Somewhat valid point . . .

At USC he'll be behind:
Tyron Smith JR 2008 ***** (6th ranked T)
Butch Lewis SR 2006 **** (4th ranked DT)
Matt Kalil SO 2008 ***** (3rd ranked T)
Micheal Reardon JR 2007 **** (9th ranked DE)
Kevin Graff SO 2009 **** (10th ranked T)

At tOSU he'll be behind:
Mike Adams rFR 2008 ***** (1st ranked T)
J.B. Shugarts JR 2008 **** (11th ranked T)
Marcus Hall SO 2009 **** (6th ranked T)
Micheal Brewster 2008 ***** (2nd ranked T) NOW PLAYING CENTER
Andy Miller SR 2006 *** (41st ranked TE)

Seantrel has himself surrounded by pretty intelligent people. I would imagine the most important aspect of this decision is "what school will make him the best possible player and most ready for the NFL?". Playing a ton early can definitely help (we have that on our side), playing with better talent and against better competition in practice could help (big pluses for USC and tOSU), and the coaches ability to develop that player will help. I certainly don't think the Henderson's are naive enough to let their impatience be the key factor, but I'm sure it will play a role.
