A lot has changed since the last time the Gopher football team stepped foot on the TCF Bank Stadium turf.

At that point, Minnesota was 3-0 on the heels of a 26-3 win over Miami of Ohio. The Gophers’ ground game was rolling, while its run defense was stout. Freshman quarterback Zack Annexstad was avoiding mistakes, finding his favorite target — junior wide receiver Tyler Johnson — for touchdown after touchdown.

And on that day back in mid-September, the Gophers’ best player was still healthy.

Now as Minnesota prepares for another home game — more specifically, homecoming against rival Iowa on Saturday — it does so following its first loss, as well as the loss of yet another star player to a season-ending injury. Safety Antoine Winfield Jr., who doubled as a dynamic punt returner, suffered a torn Lisfranc ligament in his foot two weekends ago in the game against Maryland and is out for the remainder of 2018.

What followed for the Gophers...
